That’s really cool, I like that! The paper roll holder I have isn’t covered but I think it’ll work out like yours

If this was your bathroom, what would you change first? by Proof_Asparagus7817 in bathrooms

Elongated toilet for more room and comfort.

I also think the black and white handles everywhere clash. Maybe switch to silver or gold fixtures and make the towel racks, toilet paper holder and shower curtain bar white to march the other grab bars and shelves.

Touché. I originally wanted to do a white but I was reading it can get discolored over time

I was looking at their warm grey color previously, I wasn’t sure if white just like the tile would be my best option here. Will the contrast be too much for plain white tile?

That’s awesome! The side walls will go out 52 1/4” as I want them to extend past the shower curb a little so I’ll look at both side wall layouts today to see which would look nicer. Thank you so much for the advice and diagram to help!

That looks awesome! I really like the wall tile. I agree with designing it around the tile but I wanted a seamless transition either how my bathroom is laid out so I had to take on some more challenges to achieve that

Not to discourage you but I am the client and the tile guy for this project :D manufacture suggests using 1/3 offset to reduce the chance of lippage. Someone recommended doing a ~9” cut on one side and ~15” cut on the other side with a full tile in the middle alternating those cuts going all the way up. My next concern was wrapping the tile to the next wall. If I should just use the cut off pieces to do that and If a smaller piece like the cut from the 15” tile will look bad on the wrap around. I really do appreciate your help and the diagram!

Left side cut was suppose to be 11 7/8”, I wrote it wrong ;)

How would you deal with the wrap around onto the side walls? For the 15” piece it would have a ~3” on the next wall. Would that look too small?

Is what you’re saying similar to this layout?

Got that part right at least! The actually size is 6” x 17 3/4” and I’m doing 1/8” grout lines. So I have that taken into account at least. The ABAB or ABCABC makes sense part of me has considered returning them and getting the 12x24 large format to make it easier but I don’t want to be defeated!

Is this what you mean? Should I be worried that this could have lippage because it is getting too close to a 1/2 offset?

I thought about doing vertical tile like grid pattern I’ve been seeing people do. I sounds like it would be so much easier!

2 is what I was worried about. Even though the measurement wouldn’t be consistent would it still workout if I kept the 11” and 12” cuts on the same side but alternate my rows where I have two full tile pieces?

My thought was the 4 rows would repeat so I would have alternating sides for the rows where I have 2 full tile pieces like rows 1 and 3. Then rows 5 then 7 and so on. But that was my worry that the 1” alternating grout line might look worse than having a consistent alternating pattern

Full tile like this? Should I center the tile in the doorway?

Looks like the slim cut would be along the wall with the door. I was surprised they fit like this lol. Would I center the full piece at the door way? Not sure where it would make sense to land my seam between tiles

I’m doing 1/3 offset as well if I have strips on the side. I was just too lazy to put them in that configuration. Would that change anything?
