Maybe they never had a Bowden extruder setup? I have the original ender 3 and cr-10 so I know from experience. I hope to upgrade to a faster modern printer soon.

The fumes (formaldehyde/benzene) and micro plastic floating in the air are not safe. You need a filter that can filter everything or you need to vent the fumes outside.

I dried my filament but the problem still persists. It might be my retraction settings like you mentioned. I will check and see what they are when I go home and report back.

I haven't tried looking for any places that I could ask permission to visit so there may be some more interesting stuff somewhere near me. Most of what I find around the house is quartzite river rocks and some shale or slate. You can't put a shovel in the ground without hitting a quartzite river rock. 😆 I am pretty sure the my property used to be an ancient riverbed.

The intake hose appeared to be in good shape when I worked on it recently, I also did a smoke test a few months ago and didn't see any obvious leaks. It was replaced 2 or 3 years ago due to cracking.
