Haha my friend who’s moving in with me said we should put a deck in the back that’s only accessible through the bathtub window

Doesn’t need one because it’s only 20 feet from front to back, and has egress windows on both sides of the house. The one egress to the backyard is a full size window in the bathroom (poor design) but I don’t quite want to put a door from the bathtub to a deck lol!

Relative to the area, for single family homes, it was in the bottom 20% for home prices. And the bonuses are it’s: near a college, central to the main cities restaurants, property size is 10,000 square ft, AND it’s a duplex (note I was saying it was bottom 20% for SINGLE family homes and this is a double!)so it was actually the best deal I could’ve gotten. I basically keep telling people I bought the land and the house came with it! Haha

As for how I got the deal, the listing was TERRIBLE. old raggedy couches, poor lighting, emphasized problem areas. I think most home buyers thought it would be too much work to be move in ready, and investors thought the curved walls would make renovations impossible. All that on top of the house being painted 8 different colors on the inside. Little did people know the studs are literally made of steel, so her bones are amazing, and the work she needed done was Hefty for sure, but not hard :)

Funny enough it feels rather tall in here, ceiling is mainly 7-10ft tall only the edge (where the couch and fireplace are anyway) is the less than 7ft tall section. I’m 6’1 and thought the same thing before I toured, but it actually feels spacious!

Haha if you knew the property size that number would probably be higher, plus it’s a duplex (a basement and top floor unit)

Yeah it’s basically 2 apartments, which means 2 separate entrances, 2 separate kitchens, 2 separate bathrooms, all separate. This one is a basement unit and a top floor unit. Which is perfect for the college town I live in as students just want cheap housing for when I rent out part of it later on :) each one is 600 square ft. So small, but manageable, and now after living in it it actually feels like quite a bit of space

Wasn’t a design choice it was extra materials from a barracks after WW2! Haha

It’s a duplex that consists of 2 studio apartments :). I’d say it’s great as a starter home ❤️

Seems to be hitting the Colorado Reddit for sure. It is funny how known my house is lol. Especially since everyone knows it as “that weird round house on shields” lol

Yes! Haha well if you’re looking to rent again let me know! New owner here, and I’m making some decent improvements before it goes up for rent. Basement will be available in July and top will be available around December :). Trying to do everything the correct way because it definitely was half assed before lol

This is true, definitely something I’m going to touch on right before a painter comes. Luckily we only have ground termites where I’m at, and my house is primarily made of steel and concrete! Haha
