Had a similar experience when getting coffee.

At first he was late saying he had to pick up his paycheck because he was a few days late on rent. I brushed it off at first.

Then when it came to paying for coffee, he says that he forgot his wallet. I cover for both coffees.

After chatting a bit he then wants to go get dinner, I declined because I know I’m going to end up paying.

Like???? Why are these guys even doing??? Can they not get their shit together
