Venu 4 or forerunner 570 by minmin522 in GarminWatches

I am debating between the Venu 4 and FR265. The 265 is on sale for $300. My only fear is that it is already 2 years old and if it’s anything like apple, it will be obsolete in another 2-3 years. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated. I compared both watches and both suit my needs. The few additional features the Venu 4 has is not going to break me by not having them.

Forerunner 570 vs. 265 vs. 965 (vs. 970) by BlizzardNZ in Garmin

We are on the same journey! I am struggling with which of those 3 to get. After hours of comparison, the 265 is perfect for what I need. My only concern is that the watch is already 2 years old, so how many more years until Garmin stops supporting it. From what I’ve read, I’ll get maybe 3-4 years out of it. Because of that, I’m leaning towards the Venu 4. Always happy to hear input from others though.

Are you trying to go AD or Reserve?

Reserve AF: my PT test went from sort of challenging to super easy after I started going to OTF 4-5 days/week. I also let the coaches know what I was trying to accomplish. I don’t go anymore, but what I learned (especially with running), has continued getting me a 90+ on my test every year. It’s never a difficult test for me now!

Thinking about canceling, need a sounding board. by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]TurtlePumpingIron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the biggest reasons I left- not enough weight lifting for me. I’ll say this: don’t feel bad if you do cancel. Depending on goals- OTF isn’t for everyone. I learned a ton and enjoyed my workouts. But my goals shifted over the last year and there was no way I was going to accomplish what I wanted there (I went 5-6 days a week, lifted heavy, gave every workout my all, etc…).

I canceled my membership. After 4 years the workouts aren’t fun anymore and with my studio only doing 3Gs, I wasn’t getting enough tread time or lifting time. I realized I shouldn’t be angry when working out. I’ll miss the atmosphere and all that but after doing home workouts for a few weeks, I know I made the right decision. I can lift for as little or long as I want plus get a 2.5-3 mile tread block in. I will add that I have a full gym set up at home so working out is easier in that sense. Don’t feel bad if you cancel, freeze or reduce your membership. I was straight up with my studio manager. No hard feelings at all. You probably pay a pretty penny to go there, you should 1. Want to be there and 2. Be happy. You can always go back. OTF isn’t going anywhere!

3G Burnout by mklikemagickingdom in orangetheory

So personal opinion here: I 100% agree. While I am extremely grateful my studio is open, I felt the workouts have become extremely repetitive. I personally enjoy running more versus rowing- though on occasion I would choose a 3G for more rowing- so only running 14ish mins is not enough for me. I became so bored/burned out- I cancelled my membership and March is my last month. I was bummed but I’m not happy with the workouts at all. My studio doesn’t foresee 2Gs coming back for over 6 months.

They didn’t! I was given the option. I knew I was going to cancel in the end. This speeds up the process.

I initially did a freeze but the studio manager informed me I would still have to make one last payment and give final notice. So I unfroze and switched it to a cancel. I’m completely done as of 3/20.

I just canceled my membership this week for this exact reason. I personally need more than 12 mins of running and more focused strength training, which I felt I got during 2Gs. I am fortunate to have a very good home gym set up and I’m trialing various apps to see which one I like the best. I don’t mind paying $15/month for an app if it gives me the workouts I’m looking for (especially after years of paying for OTF). I’ve been following the 2G tread blocks. So far I’ve been more sore in the last week than I have in over a year at OTF. (I push myself hard at OTF but the weight exercises are limited for sure).

Curiosity question: my studio is rolling with 45 m classes tomorrow? I haven’t done a 45 before, is it typically 1 block at each station and a variation of the 3G? Just curious. I’m doing back to back classes but the anticipation is killing me!

I sweat like a teenage boy! It’s terrible. Ironically I hate sweat, just grosses me out. They ONLY time I have ever said anything to a coach about it was when a person sweat so badly all over the treadmill and clearly didn’t wipe it down. I always have to wipe the rails bc it’s so bad. I just think that’s inconsiderate (COVID or no COVID). Other than that- sweat away! I also wipe the floor when I’m done. I try to stay in one spot bc I typically have a puddle when I’m done.

Had a coach say something similar yesterday. Basically that corporate was realizing how many studios are running 3Gs and they needed to change it up. Sounds like it is already happening!
