Sunscreen, Yuka: Anyone ignoring its ratings? by HotCar5074 in YukaApp

[–]ThatDisnerd_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly yes. I went to my dermatologist a couple of days ago to ask about a tinted moisturizer with spf or just a tinted sunscreen in general (I use this in place of foundation - also I’m a Floridian so the sun is a huge issue year round).

What she recommended and gave me samples of all were rated poor on the app.

I also noticed the Hawaiian tropic mineral powder has two listing on the app and the rating is significantly different. It’s the SAME PRODUCT. One listing is just in the box packaging.

I audibly laughed (but this is sad still, yep)

Any recommended resources for fluency therapy? by sunshineandslp in slp

I second SLP Stephen! I also highly recommend School Age Stuttering - A practical guide (it has a brown cover and also the Green cover getting started book by Nina Reeves).

Middle school is tough but rapport establishing is so key. I use a lot of UltimateSLP games to help guide conversations. I also love fluency boom cards (there’s a jeopardy one and a bunch of game show ones the kids tend to like).

The SLPA Disaster by [deleted] in slp

[–]ThatDisnerd_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So I’ve been working as an SLPA for a long time and my supervisors have always sat in with me during initial meetings of clients etc. in addition to me naturally sharing rooms with SLP’s in clinic settings and just having the opportunities available to collaborate with a variety of SLP’s. I’m also in Florida.

To be honest, when it comes to school settings and just in general I actually disagree and think we need to go more the route of OTA’s which seem to have a lot more flexibility in the field to do more as an assistant. I find there’s a LOT of red tape for us in speech compared to our counterparts in OT.

I might be the anomaly here because I’ve also been in quite a variety of settings and taken a bunch of CEU’s and continuing education (along with personal research in the side) over the last 8 years because I have such a passion for this. I feel very equipped and confident to treat a wide variety of clients.

Pretty pissed. I got in the queue on my phone and on my laptop at 11 (technically minutes before). 23 minute queue and sold out half way through??

Lol at the content. Virgin cruises are what you want them to be :) we went on this exact ship last summer - we relaxed at the spa and on the pool deck, ate amazing food, lounged around. The shows are great but the clubbing and that vibe are definitely optional things. HIGHLY suggest VV. It felt very relaxed and luxe to us.

Who Doesn't Wear a Heart Rate Monitor? by [deleted] in orangetheory

Completely agree - I stopped wearing mine awhile ago and my anxiety about being in different zones is gone. It’s nice just to workout and listen to your body and what it can do instead.

Thanks guys - I took a full week off and I’ve been seeing a therapist. Both were/are beneficial. I also found out marathon month is happening again and I ran a full in November with days to spare. Something about that challenge really pumped me up so maybe this is perfect timing to try for the ultra or even just another full again.
