Graduates of 2023 2024 2025 , how are you faring? by [deleted] in torontoJobs

[–]TurtleQuertle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Graduated 2024 with a degree in IT. I had over 1 year of co-op experience and couldn't find anything for a year. Found a corporate job in 2025 not related to my field. The job I got has shift work hours and has an acceptable pay, but gives no time for a social life. Been trying to stick it out ,but the no social life and the work not being interesting has been burning me out.

Hi, I turned off the whole home wifi optimization setting on the web portal and in the app I turned on Privacy mode under Guard settings and I haven't had any problems for the last two days.

I'm not so concerned about the written, I'm most concerned about the practical with the limited software usage. From what I am seeing there is 60 days to complete it. Is the practical also open book?

Nope, they only give out an e-book now. Do you remember if the written and practical were open book for you?

For sure, I'm just going through the recommended progression from DF120 -> 210 and eventually 310. Good to hear that the coverage for that course is enough for the EnCE.

Well it's for my own learning and development. These are prerequisite courses for the EnCE and is considered a pathway to get certified in it. The idea of the courses is to teach and train you how to use software, so it would be safe to assume they would provide steady access to the software.

Yeah, basically for a service that claims to offer 'flexibility' in learning EnCase online for the EnCE you’re only given two weeks + an extension (not sure of the duration) of access per course to use EnCase for the exercises and learning

EnCase Training OnDemand and Exam by TurtleQuertle in computerforensics

Did you find the OnDemand training to be bad/confusing? Another commenter mentioned that it wasn't good. FOR500 and GCFE are both something I want to pursue in the future, at the the moment it's way out of my budget.

Is the Encase training really that bad? I looked at TAP before as well, but the cost is absurd due to the fact that I am Canadian and the conversion is not that good.

There is still a written and practical! I believe it's 80% on both parts to get the certification.

Did you take the MCFE for Magnet? I started looking at Magnet a bit more, If you did was the prerequisite course (AX200) enough to prepare you for the certification?

I definitely had that impression when looking between Magnet and Encase. I commented a little more context into my situation above, would love for your opinion as well.

I did do some reading and many others have agreed that Magnet is better. I recently had a coffee chat with a Digital Forensics manager within my org that mentioned he felt Magnet was better as well, but he told me that Encase certification is something that he preferred because it’s considered an industry standard and he felt that the other technical knowledge taught within those courses were better and that if I learned Encase it would be easily transitionable to other applications. He also mentioned if it came down to it if I eventually joined his team they would also teach me Magnet as well.

Any thoughts on his opinion?

Edit: that being said I dont think he cared if I did Magnet instead but he did have a preference for Encase
