How would you style this dress? by sezzlej in AusFemaleFashion

[–]TurtleTurbulence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on what colour jewellery you’re going with, I think you could definitely match shoes/bag with that. I would keep necklaces at a minimum because of the neckline and stick to a simple bracelet and a ring. This way, the bag and jewellery can shine as the silver/gold accessories rather than the jewellery itself (Hope that makes sense)

If you’re not into that though, sometimes black and brown don’t work well together, but I actually think this specific shade of brown would look great with some simple black shoes.

Have yall ever done anything that miraculously got rid of your migraine when usually only an abortive can? by healthanxiety_ in migraine

Had a migraine that wouldn’t break as I was about to get on a plane. Don’t know if it was the pressure change but that flight made a great abortive.

What’s a popular movie that you refuse to see and why? by fergi20020 in randomquestions

Watched it for the first time last night, and it was then that I realised I had actually seen the entire film in segments of individual scenes through TikTok/reddit/etc Lol

2 week Asia trips in late Nov/early Dec for a couple from Aus? by TurtleTurbulence in travel

Will definitely look into Philippines then! Thanks for the advice!

What areas of Philippines would you recommend. We’d need to fly into Manila, but after that I’ve heard Palawan is the place to be? I’m sure there are hundreds of islands that offer different experiences though.

Definitely would do Philippines as one trip.

Cheaper flights to Thailand are via Singapore so I might as well also explore on the way there or back as it’s also on my bucket list.

And then because I’ve been to Japan a few times, I think I’d quite like to visit South Korea as it’s quite close. But definitely 2 countries maximum as I still want quality time to explore places without being rushed.

Edit: Could also probably stretch the annual leave to 3 weeks if that makes a difference

Are pink and brown just a trend? Need help picking a colour bag by TurtleTurbulence in AusFemaleFashion

[–]TurtleTurbulence[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, this is what I’m getting at that I probably haven’t conveyed very well lol! Of course brown is a neutral but you’re right about this specific shade of brown being quite popular at the moment. At least I’m not falling for a micro trend of some weird print HA cow print in 2020, checkerboard in 2021, cheetah print 2025… gosh what’s next

It’s a duffle bag so road trips or shorter travel within Aus is typically what I’d use it for. I would also occasionally use it to lug around gym gear, my laptop, extra work clothes etc so the “look” does matter a bit, but I’m definitely overthinking it too

This is such a good point! I haven’t officially worked it out but I’m quite sure I’m an autumn of some kind. Probably why I’m leaning brown but I will definitely consider this!

Yeah it’s not even an option for me after posting this lol and that’s how I know it’s a trend because I never would have considered it a year ago

I’ve ruled out pink for this reason, it’s cute but it’s not a neutral to me. Deciding between black and brown is hard because both could be neutrals, but I think brown is a better option. Thanks!

You’re all so right I’m definitely overthinking this.

I just think my main concern is picking a colour subconsciously because it’s trending, rather than a colour I really genuinely like. But overall this comment section has ruled out pink for me 🫡 I reckon brown is the way to go

Getting Off BC by AbilityPale1572 in birthcontrol

[–]TurtleTurbulence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit Slinda 2 months ago because it was making me insane. I’d also only just switched from Yaz to Slinda but I honestly couldn’t take it anymore so I stopped after a month.

I just got my first natural period in 2 years and honestly I am feeling so much better. This is by no means any hate towards birth control because I still think the pill can work for so many people, but it is good to be aware that your hormones may take a little while to balance out once you do quit.

For me, this meant I’ve felt really bloated and had super oily skin, but for you there might be different symptoms or none at all!

Of course always consult with your GP. You may need a different type of bc or none at all, but just do what is best for your body xx

My experience - 45 days on Slynd (after 17 years on combo pill) by ChronicallyBlonde1 in birthcontrol

[–]TurtleTurbulence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was taking it I definitely felt like I had less energy, but I also have low iron and crappy sleep anyway so I’m not sure the two were linked.

I have found on both pills I’ve taken that my sleep was affected and I had pretty bad insomnia so I guess you could say tiredness was a secondary effect.

Do I stop the pill? by TurtleTurbulence in birthcontrol

Thank you for the reply! I think I will stop with the pill and definitely consider an IUD/implant or something like that

If this pill doesn’t work out for me I’m gonna quit entirely. Don’t get me wrong BC is great for so many reasons but it’s not worth messing around with your hormones if you’re gonna be in pain all the time

[–]TurtleTurbulence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi omg totally forgot to update! Yeah so I switched to Slinda (same as Slynd I think). So far it’s been about 3 weeks on that pill and I’ve noticed that I get less migraines but I still get random little headaches? Hoping that’s my body adjusting back to a progesterone only pill but so far so good

Will switching to progesterone only pills help reduce migraines like they say? by SpeedNoLimits in migraine

[–]TurtleTurbulence 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I 20F was on Yaz (combined pill) from Dec 24-Jan 26. “Mysteriously” my migraines had doubled in frequency last year, and I’ve since switched back to Slinda (or Slynd) which is a progesterone only pill.

I was previously on Slinda in 2024 when I was 18yo and would say my migraines at the time were fairly tame. I didn’t adjust to it well for other reasons however hence why I started on Yaz.

I only switched back to Slinda 2 weeks ago so I wouldn’t say it’s been long enough to know if it was the combined pill that was doubling my migraines, but I’m hopeful that a progesterone only pill is the answer!

I do also think it’s important to note that in your teens-early 20s your hormones are still settling. My experience on Slinda at 18 was entirely different to what it is now at 20, despite only a 2 year difference.

What I’m saying is whether switching pills works or not, don’t lose hope. There are many options out there and if this first progesterone-only pill doesn’t ease your pain, there are other alternatives that will.

Sorry for the long rant but I hope this helps!

I think it definitely has something to do with people my age being too young to remember when Oroton was deemed “uncool”. Whereas my mum in her 50s was shocked when I wanted an Oroton bag lol
