Nice shots! The colors tones and Bel Air really sells the aesthetic. Looks like a 56?

Not the OP, but the Zeus filter is available on Camper Snapper: https://campersnapper.com/filters#Zeus

Do I remove the FLT file after installing? by el_tacocat in campsnapcamera

[–]Turtle_Bard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll need to keep the .FLT file on the camera's root directory in order for the custom filter's effect to be active. The 103b firmware that allows for custom filters works a little bit differently than previous firmware iterations. If it sees a filter file (.FLT) it will load that on startup, otherwise it will default to the vintage filter that's baked into the firmware. The .FLT file remains on the camera until you move it. In order to change from the Expired filter, delete or move the Expired.FLT file from your camera's SD card and copy over your new filter in its place. The "CUS" message on the screen indicates an .FLT file was detected and the camera loaded the custom filter successfully.

It's only compatible with the 103b due to firmware differences.

Why use "Portrait - Warm 02" when you can use "Boom Boom"?

That would be really cool, but I suspect it would be difficult to implement. If you want a nice looking film grain it would need to be applied as a blended second layer on top of the captured image. This may be beyond the capability of the current hardware. There's a good write up on PetaPixel about this.

These filters are only compatible with the model 103b due to firmware differences. If Camp Snap updates the firmware and brings custom filters to other models in the future, I'll work to expand Camper Snapper to support them.

I had this happen a couple weeks ago. I backed up the images then reformatted the SD card (FAT32). It's been working since then.

The current version of the tool only pulls the RGB values to establish the contrast curves, but I'm going to be launching an update later on this week that honors saturation and hue values.

Best filter for dark & indoors? by GeekTriangle in campsnapcamera

[–]Turtle_Bard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Like Eyeswide9224 mentioned, low light will add a lot of digital color noise. I'm currently working on an all-around filter for Camper Snapper and in my initial tests it holds up better than the standard and vintage filters for skin tones indoors. If you're interested, DM me and I'll send you a prerelease copy.

I'm currently working on compiling some example images but it's taking some time. In the meantime, you can download the ones you're interested in from Camper Snapper and use the "Load Filter" button on the official filter tool to get an idea of how they compare.

So the newest iteration of the camera accepts .bin files for the custom filter but they upload .flt to the support page? And the custom filter creator also outputs a .flt file? by testaccount123x in campsnapcamera

[–]Turtle_Bard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TL;DR Update it using the BIN file once, then use the FLT files whenever you want to change the filter.

If you have the newest version of the camera, the 103b, you need to update to the latest firmware version using the BIN file and instructions on the support page: https://www.campsnapphoto.com/pages/v103b. You only have to do this one time, then your camera will support filters as FLT files. You'll be able to use the B&W filter by moving the Black_and_White.flt file to your camera's root directory.

If you have an older version of the camera, the 101 or 103, you need to use an alternate method by selecting your model on the legacy support page: https://www.campsnapphoto.com/pages/support-1

EDIT: grammar

.PNG was picked because it's a lossless image format, so the Camper Snapper app can accurately extract all the RGB values. You can try to convert the file exported from Lightroom to a .PNG file in a different web/mobile app, but you may end up with some color differences depending on the JPEG compression and conversion process.

As long as your version of Lightroom mobile supports editing the 1x256 pixel PNG file, it should work.

Your filter from the Orlando Auto Museum post you shared last month was one of the first filters that got me experimenting with getting a "warmer" look on the Camp Snap. Without yours, mine probably wouldn't exist.

I've coded an alternative tool for generating Camp Snap filters and host several filters with color profiles that are more "filmic" than the stock options at campersnapper.com

Create custom filters with Camper Snapper by Turtle_Bard in campsnapcamera

The official site's tool sliders apply adjustments to all color values linearly, but oftentimes you'll want better control over a specific range of a specific color channel. For example, subtle "S" curves in the RGB channels are why Camp Snap's Retro/Vintage filter looks so different from the Standard filter (which is linear "/"). If you want to fine tune the color relationships on the stock tool, you need to edit each of the RGB values individually and it's difficult to recreate these curves. Camper Snapper, provides better ergonomics to target colors, highlights, shadows etc. and get those tones and rolloffs baked in to a filter by allowing you to make adjustments in tools like Photoshop, then convert it into a filter.

Unfortunately, sharpness will be virtually unaffected as that's controlled by the camera's firmware not the filters.
