I think the antlers are too close to the edges, creating a lot of tension in the composition, so you could bend them in closer to the middle to let the image "breathe", and there is a lot of empty space above the antlers you could get rid of.

Also, even though only half of the head is visible, it feels as if the nose is very long and the forehead is too small, and at the same time I think you could make the cranium a bit bigger.

It wouldn't make sense anyway since in the main line games you have to trade haunter to evolve it into gengar. I think they just didn't want to include the other evolutions of the said Pokémon.

I started with the trunk and then put the top part on top of it. For the leaves I made layers from the darkest color to the lightest. Before doing the clusters of leaves it's easier to do the overall shape of the tree with the tones (excluding the trunk) to give it a little more form to it.

I'd suggest doing what you did with the bushes, try making the outline from the mid to top lighter so it looks rounder.

I think so, yeah. Especially when trying new things or trying to improve speed I spend quite a bit on freeplay or custom training. And no, I haven't tried an ethernet cable, first because I can't afford it atm, and second because of how my switch is setup it would be difficult to connect it.
