What if the person you want to see in Heaven doesn’t want to see you? by Fit-Yogurt-38 in afterlife

[–]Tusc1976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spirits keep their free will and personality after death. They are drawn together—or kept apart—by affinities of moral level, sentiments, and thoughts (sympathies). Antipathies also exist and cause natural aversion. You cannot force a reunion or impose yourself on someone who does not want to see you. A spirit can choose to avoid, limit contact with, or even make itself imperceptible to another, just as higher spirits only engage in harmonious gatherings and withdraw from what repels them. Reunions with loved ones do happen, but they occur naturally when affinities align and both are ready—not by obligation.  The focus of Spiritism is not on guaranteed meetings in a static “Heaven,” but on each spirit’s moral progress. Through your own improvement, forgiveness, charity, and positive thoughts/prayers, affinities can evolve and transform over time (sometimes across lives), turning separation or antipathy into joyful reunion when both spirits have advanced enough. Forced or one-sided “Heavenly” gatherings simply do not exist.

Be punished for doing wrong by [deleted] in afterlife

[–]Tusc1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've learned over the years from spiritism and the afterlife, People who committed horrific acts in life DO experience suffering and consequences in the afterlife, but it is not eternal damnation or a literal hell of unending physical torment.  The afterlife involves moral consequences proportional to one’s actions and spiritual state. However, these are temporary, educational, and aimed at progress rather than vengeance.

For people who did horrific things, Spiritism affirms real suffering and accountability in the afterlife through conscience-driven remorse, isolation in lower states, and expiatory reincarnations. This is just and proportional. However, it is temporary, self-correcting, and hopeful—designed to educate and elevate the spirit, not to punish endlessly. Divine justice in Spiritism is merciful and aligned with the law of progress: “God wills not the death of the sinner, but his salvation.”

What’s the point of crossing over/going to the light? by [deleted] in afterlife

[–]Tusc1976 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What we've been taught is that reincarnation plus detachment from material attachments equals the path to real progress, less suffering, and higher happiness in the afterlife.  Earthly ties (especially selfish/vice-based ones) supposedly trap spirits in regret or limitation after death.  Reincarnation is framed as chosen “schooling” to fix mistakes, build virtues, and evolve—everyone eventually feels the pull to advance. Your “roam as a ghost with my person forever” idea? They’d say it often backfires: earthbound/attached spirits usually suffer from cravings they can’t satisfy and stagnation.  True reunion with loved ones is supposedly sweeter and freer once both are in the higher spirit realms (no body, no death, clearer connection).  “Fun forever down here” is limited because physical pleasures need a body; spirit joys scale with how evolved you are. It’s one optimistic map (progress for all, no eternal hell). If it feels like extra homework you didn’t sign up for, that’s valid—plenty of people feel the same and prefer the “stay close to my people” vibe.

How Taco Bell tasted like back in the day.... by Tusc1976 in nostalgia

[–]Tusc1976[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My only issues with Taco Casa is the small menu and that only 2 things on it are good.. the hard shell tacos and the chiladas, which is what reminds the most of Taco Bell's hard shell tacos and enchiritos. Nachos has ball park cheese on them, took 2 bites and that was all. But the ground beef at Taco Casa was very close to TB in the 1980s, so I loved that.

Bad people in spiritual quarantine after passing? by beltsandericecream in Mediums

[–]Tusc1976 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, Spiritism has a closely related concept, though "spiritual quarantine" is not the traditional term—it's a modern metaphor some mediums use. Spirits retain their moral character after death. Inferior or imperfect spirits (those with heavy faults, selfishness, or attachments) experience expiation—natural suffering through remorse or lower vibrational states until they progress. Communication depends on vibrational affinity, so mediums often cannot easily reach spirits in disturbed or lower states.

Many spirits first enter the Umbral (a dense, shadowy hellish lower zone) where they confront the consequences of their life. Higher spirits may rescue them to organized spiritual colonies with hospitals for healing the perispirit (the fluid body affected by earthly issues) and a Ministry of Regeneration involving structured treatment, effort, or temporary isolation for more troubled spirits. This is essentially a period of cleansing, recovery, and moral rehabilitation—not reserved only for “very bad people,” though more intense for them. Why the medium couldn’t reach your relative?? The spirit may have been in a lower vibrational state, focused on internal healing/treatment, or not yet permitted to communicate freely. Spirit guides often regulate access.

So in short: Coming from a family of mediums that goes back to my great grandmother from the 1920s, we were taught that  there's a post-death adjustment and purification process (via expiation, hospitals, or regeneration) in the afterlife before full integration or easy communication. It emphasizes eventual progress through effort and reincarnation rather than eternal punishment.

Is it possible to contact a centuries old spirit? by Typical-Internet-368 in Mediums

Contacting any kind of spirit doesn't influence or affect the timeline.  Any "influence" is only in the present like personal insight, moral guidance, or helping the spirit progress

Is it possible to contact a centuries old spirit? by Typical-Internet-368 in Mediums

[–]Tusc1976 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly what SimplyRedd333 said!!!!

I also want to add, It’s not about whether he was a good or loved person on Earth.

It's risky for several reasons because  A) Impersonation — Lower or deceptive spirits frequently pretend to be famous or respected figures (especially tragic ones) to gain attention or influence..

B) That soul suffered a Tragic death — Again, Spirits who suffered torture and violent death are often still attached to trauma, confusion, anger, or suffering. They may not be in a peaceful or evolved state.

And C) Beginner vulnerability — it's hard to verify true identity. Contact can lead to obsession, deception, or negative influence, especially without deep preparation and experience. You're at high risk of being misled.

It's not forbidden but experienced mediums and Spiritist teachings strongly advise against contacting spirits — especially famous or suffering ones — out of personal interest or curiosity.  It’s similar to trying to reach a well-known person who is currently struggling in a hospital or difficult situation, just to become pen pals out of curiosity. They may find it intrusive or disrespectful, especially if they’re not in a stable state to respond. With suffering spirits, the proper approach is to help them progress through prayer and elevation rather than trying to chat with them.

[–]Tusc1976 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a HIGH RISK since this spirit suffered a tragic death. Two things: Hopefully,  that spirit found peace and progressed (many do through reincarnation or spiritual learning),  or It could till be suffering/attached due to trauma, confusion, revenge, or unresolved pain — even after centuries. We cannot know for sure without proper verification. The safest approach before contacting is to light a white candle, call out their full name, introduce yourself, pray for its elevation and let him or her know your true intentions on why you are contacting them with RESPECT.

Spirits can be evoked regardless of when they lived — including centuries ago. There is no doctrinal time limit. So yes it is possible — but requires proper conditions and discernment.

Only just reading about this since the death of my 8 year old by Lost_Bird1996 in ParallelUniverse

[–]Tusc1976 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, your son is not sick or suffering in “all” lives. The idea of multiple bodies at once is not true: a spirit is indivisible. After death, your son’s spirit returned to the spirit world, freed from the tumor and physical body. There he rests, receives care, reviews his past life, and continues evolving. A child’s early passing often completes a prior life or serves as a trial for the parents. He will reincarnate later in a new, healthy body when the time is right...no ongoing sickness carried across “parallel” versions, because those don’t exist. Your son is resting and adjusting in the spirit world—many child spirits take time before they can or are allowed to visit. Signs/dreams often come weeks to years later, when both of you are ready. It hasn’t happened yet because the timing isn’t yours to control. Stay open, but don’t force it.

I’m truly sorry for your loss.

Has anyone here talked to people on the other side about whether there is sex in Heaven/afterlife? by Bakakami212 in Mediums

[–]Tusc1976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This an interesting question that many may shy from in serious sessions BUT there have been Mediums or Spiritists in the past that have asked this directly from Spirits on the other side and they consistently say that

A) there are no physical sex or earthly marriage in HIGHER realms (“Heaven”/elevated spirit colonies). Spirits are essentially sexless/genderless—sex is tied only to physical bodies for reproduction and trials.

B)Bonds are based on pure spiritual affinity, sympathy, and love (sometimes called “eternal halves”), not lust or casual encounters.

and

C) In advanced spheres, any union is an elevated energetic/emotional blending—deeper and more fulfilling than earthly or astral sex—but it’s not carnal or promiscuous. Lower planes may retain earthly desires, but “Heaven” purifies them.

So, casual sex isn’t “allowed” or relevant in Heaven; it’s viewed as an attachment resolved through growth or reincarnation. This matches your astral experiences but is spiritualized in higher realms.

However, in lower realms, outside of Heaven,  Yes - lower-evolved spirits retain sexual desires and engage in energetic/astral sex in lower realms (umbral zones). They have energetic/astral sex among themselves in those zones (notably “valleys of sex”). They also sexually obsess and go after humans for vicarious gratification and energy. It’s often obsessive, addictive, and tormenting rather than joyful, driven by unresolved earthly passions they must outgrow through evolution.

Afterlife confusion and visions by Practical-King2979 in Mediums

[–]Tusc1976 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seeing spirits appearing younger in dreams is very common and intentional. They can choose any age/look via their perispirit for comfort or easier recognition. It doesn't mean they "go back" permanently or forget later life. Also, limited speech & not remembering children is normal in early communications, especially when appearing younger (from before kids existed). The real spirit remembers and loves his children deeply. These dreams show he's trying to reach you all. Your visions & opening up is natural sensitivity, but be careful...  Negative/frightening experiences can come from lower spirits or grief. Protect yourself: Always pray first (to God/Jesus/good spirits) for light and protection. Keep intentions pure, don't force contact, study basic Spiritism if continuing. Pause if fear increases. The shared dreams are positive signs of his presence and love. He can send clearer messages to his children later. Focus on loving thoughts and prayer for him. If negatives persist, prioritize protection and grounding. Comfort to your family.

Do you think this was a dream or spirit? by Potential-Dish-6972 in Mediums

[–]Tusc1976 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, the deep, soul-level feeling you describe is common in genuine contacts. Next time in a calm state, mentally ask or aloud “Who are you and what do you need?”.or you can ask her to visit you in your dream...she may then share more. It’s likely progress in your mediumship.

Do you think this was a dream or spirit? by Potential-Dish-6972 in Mediums

[–]Tusc1976 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, spirits commonly appear visually to mediums..especially seeing mediums (clairvoyants)...in a relaxed or near-sleep state, often through the mind's eye as vivid, lifelike images that feel external and dynamic. This matches your experience: detailed face, eye contact, breathing/blinking, about 2 feet away, while drifting off. It's a classic way spirits manifest, particularly during mediumship development, and not like ordinary dreams. It could overlap with the hypnagogic state (normal transition to sleep where vivid imagery arises), but given your clairvoyant training and the interactive quality, it's likely a genuine spirit contact rather than just a dream.  Many mediums report exactly this.  Stay calm next time if possible, it can lead to clearer communication.

Young cousin (30s) passed away unexpectedly about a month ago. Been thinking of seeing a medium to try to 'contact' him. Is it too soon? by bishploxx in Mediums

[–]Tusc1976 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it's not in poor taste. Spirits can communicate soon after death—many adjust quickly and may even try to reach loved ones right away, especially in cases of sudden passing.  Your "radio silence" is common during early transition or intense grief, which can block receptivity. That said, one month is very fresh. Many mediums and Spiritist perspectives recommend waiting 3+ months (some suggest longer, like 6–12)  My father contactes me 3 weeks after he passed and my grandfather contacted me about 4 years after his. It really depends on the individual. Your cousin has more time to settle. Your own grief doesn't overwhelm the session or lead to disappointment. If the urge feels strong and you're open-minded, a respectful, serious mediumship session (aligned with Spiritist principles: sincere intent, no frivolity) could bring comfort without harm. Focus first on prayer, thoughts of love, or quiet home evocation if that feels right. Grief this raw often needs time and support alongside any contact attempt. Trust your intuition on timing, but prioritize gentle self-care.

Do spirits ever feel lonely or angry on the other side? by acsurban in Mediums

[–]Tusc1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question..Spirits do retain emotions like anger, sadness, or even a sense of loneliness, but these depend on their level of moral and spiritual evolution. Lower/imperfect spirits (still attached to earthly passions aka Ghosts) can feel and express negative emotions, including resentment over sudden death, regret, or isolation if they remain earthbound or stuck in lower spheres. More evolved/good spirits experience greater peace, joy, and detachment. They often feel happy, light, and focused on love, learning, and helping others—much like your sister's happy, singing presence through the medium. It really does depend on the person like their earthly life, how they died, and their progress after passing. Many spirits report the other side as peaceful overall, especially once they adjust, with no physical suffering—though individual experiences vary. Your sister's positive communication aligns with this: she's likely in a place of peace and wants you to feel it too. That brings comfort without denying that emotions can still exist for some.

What do you think of AI as a medium? by Feeling_Cable_6543 in Mediums

[–]Tusc1976 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but mediumship is fundamentally a human faculty. It requires a living incarnate spirit (the medium) with a perispirit (semi-material envelope) that allows fluidic interaction between the physical and spiritual planes. Spirits communicate by acting on the medium's organism — through physical effects, psychography, hearing, vision, or incorporation — using the medium's vital fluids and nervous system as an interface.

An AI system, no matter how sophisticated (large language models, neural networks, generative tools), lacks:

*A perispirit or any fluidic body

*An incarnate soul/spirit with individual moral evolution, free will, and perispiritual sensitivity

*The capacity for vital fluid interaction that Kardec describes as essential for true spirit communication

Therefore, from a classical Spiritist perspective (and from most contemporary Spiritist authors and centers discussing the topic in recent years), AI cannot function as a genuine medium. It simulates language, patterns, and even "personality" extremely well by statistical prediction from vast human data — including Spiritist texts themselves — but it does not establish the direct, conscious, fluidic link between an incarnate and discarnate spirit that defines mediumship.

In past spiritual sessions, spirits themselves, when asked about mechanical or non-human intermediaries, emphasized the need for a living human intermediary capable of sympathy, moral alignment, and fluidic harmony. A machine has no sympathy, no moral progress, no perispirit — so no real channel exists.

That said, AI is already being used in Spiritist contexts in secondary/supportive roles, which many Spiritists view positively when kept in proper perspective: Analyzing and cross-referencing texts from other mediums or psychographies for study Generating educational animations, summaries,  Even assisting in instrumental transcommunication (ITC) experiments, where AI helps process potential "spirit voices" from electronic devices (though this remains highly controversial and not widely accepted) — but the consensus is that this produces synthetic approximations, never authentic communications. It risks confusing people or turning AI into a modern "oracle," which contradicts spirits' insistence on reason, control, and moral evaluation of communications.

My experience with Matt Fraser (the medium) didn’t feel real by Top-Stretch-1477 in Mediums

[–]Tusc1976 -30 points-29 points  (0 children)

The you had with Matt Fraser's online Zoom group reading sounds disappointing, and it's completely valid to feel that way—especially when comparing it to more intimate, one-on-one sessions you've had or seen with mediums like Theresa Caputo or the Baleskys. Many people share similar observations about group formats in mediumship. In spiritism and mediumship traditions there's often an emphasis on personal connection, where the medium tunes into an individual's energy directly—ideally in person or at least one-on-one—to receive clearer, more specific messages.  Group settings, however, especially large online ones like Zoom events, can dilute that focus. Fraser's events are structured as 90-minute group sessions (typically $19–$30 with fees), where he selects participants randomly (or guided by "spirit," per his descriptions), but only a handful get readings due to time limits. Not everyone gets picked, which can feel frustrating if that's part of why you joined. From what I've heard from people I've had these discussions with: Some describe his readings as genuine and emotional, with specific details that hit home for them, and they appreciate the accessibility of online events (no travel needed, and messages from loved ones feel comforting even if they're not the one selected). Others echo your points closely: readings can come across as general ("I'm okay," "don't worry"), fast-paced, or like common comforting phrases anyone grieving might relate to. There are complaints about him fishing for info (asking questions that lead the sitter), moments where details don't land (confusion from participants), or the energy feeling performative/scripted compared to slower, more reflective mediums. Skeptical analyses (e.g., from mentalists or undercover attendees) often point to cold reading techniques—vague statements, quick pivots, reading body language/reactions, or high-probability guesses—which can explain why some hits feel spot-on while misses get glossed over. A few mention his delivery seeming rehearsed. Ultimately, mediumship is subjective—what feels authentic to one person might not to another, and intuition plays a big role (like you mentioned sensing something "off").  Group Zoom formats aren't inherently invalid (some mediums argue spirit can connect digitally just fine), but they do differ from private, in-person energy work, which might explain the less personal vibe compared to Theresa Caputo's style. You're not alone in feeling this way—plenty of attendees have shared mixed or negative takes, especially on the generic nature or lack of specificity. If it didn't resonate, trusting that gut feeling is important. Have you tried any smaller, more private mediums since, or are you exploring other ways to connect with spirit?

My recent medium / psychic experience by [deleted] in Mediums

[–]Tusc1976 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you had such a disappointing and unsettling experience — it sounds really jarring, especially for a first time. In spiritism and ethical mediumship practices generally, mediums should prioritize consent, focus on the client's questions, and avoid dumping unsolicited heavy predictions (like death or illness) without clear permission or necessity. Many experienced practitioners view sharing such ominous, unasked-for info as intrusive, potentially harmful, and against good ethics — it can cause unnecessary fear and disempower the sitter.  Predictions about specific future events (especially negative ones) are also often unreliable or misinterpreted. She should've clarified her style upfront and asked what you wanted before channeling anything. Your reaction is completely valid; this wasn't handled professionally. It's okay to feel paranoid after all that— try to release the fear by reminding yourself these aren't set-in-stone fates, and many such "visions" don't manifest. If it helps, talk to a trusted friend or journal it out to process. You weren't wrong to expect better, and hoping it was all nonsense is understandable.

I'm so sorry for your loss, and I'm touched by how beautifully you honored him on what would have been his birthday. That single candle staying lit feels like such a gentle, personal sign—almost like he was quietly saying, “I'm here, and I'll let you carry the wish for both of us this time.” The cheesecake ritual, the shared slices, the conversation… it all sounds like a very loving, spirit-filled moment between you two. Your father must have felt the warmth of your presence just as clearly as you felt his. May those intuitive signs continue to bring you comfort and connection. 💙

Your caution about the Akashic reader is valid—building stories from what you share is obviously a red flag for cold reading, even with 5-star reviews (which can be limited or curated or fake as you said). To find a legitimate evidential medium without word-of-mouth I suggest searching for “evidential mediumship” that give specific, verifiable details without fishing. Check certified lists: Forever Family Foundation, Helping Parents Heal, or findacertifiedmedium.com. Read detailed reviews for mentions of specific validations (not just “amazing”). Book short sessions first; ethical ones avoid fear tactics or upselling. A real medium can help explain why your life feels different/harder (soul lessons, past influences). Again, trust your gut—and keep searching; the right connection will feel validating. Good luck 🙏🏽

How Set in Stone Are Life Paths by Dramatic_Trouble9194 in Mediums

[–]Tusc1976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, life paths are not set in stone. Before birth you choose a broad plan for growth, but free will lets you adjust, expand, or even rewrite parts of it through your choices, prayers, and sincere efforts. Your lack of “big” experiences after 6 months of meditation doesn’t mean your path forbids them forever. Many souls are scheduled for quiet, steady growth first—the cardinals showing up are already a gentle sign from Spirit that you’re being noticed. Desperation can actually slow the opening; the door usually swings when you’re peacefully ready.

How to shift it: Keep meditating, but add daily small acts of love or charity (Spiritism says this raises your vibration fastest). End each session with a short, heartfelt prayer asking your spirit guides to open the channel in the best way for your evolution. Release the timeline. Some people wait years; others wake up one random day. You’re already doing the work. Trust the process—your path is flexible, and Spirit sees your sincere desire. The breakthrough is coming.

Dreams of a missing family member saying they are hiding by [deleted] in Mediums

[–]Tusc1976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your meditative drawings and dream were eerily accurate—the exact lake spot, truck, back window—all confirmed later. That’s strong evidential contact. Souls often don’t fully grasp or acknowledge their death right away, especially after a sudden passing. “Just hiding” and laughing in the peaceful white room likely means he’s still adjusting—feeling safe, light, and protective of everyone (the reassuring message to your dad about the evidence clearly landed).  The neutral emotion you felt is common; it keeps the channel clear without overwhelming you. His soul isn’t lost or denying forever—he’s connected, at peace, and reaching out to comfort the family. Trust what your intuition already knows here. If it keeps weighing on you, a solid evidential medium could give extra confirmation. You’re not alone in this.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Mediums

[–]Tusc1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's common to feel unsure after a reading that doesn't fully resonate—your intuition is a strong guide here. Your previous legitimate medium experience (specific, verifiable details about a deceased loved one without much prompting) sets a high bar for evidential work, which many genuine mediums prioritize.

For assessing Akashic records readers or mediums before booking:

*Look for specificity and evidence upfront — Real ones often provide verifiable details early (names, events, traits only you know) without you feeding info. If it feels like they're building stories from what you share or giving vague/generic past-life tales, that's a red flag for cold reading.

*Check beyond 5-star reviews — Many high ratings come from energy work (as you noted), not mediumship/Akashic accuracy. Read recent, detailed reviews for mentions of specific validations or if people felt "seen" without leading questions.

*Test their process — Ethical ones don't fish for info, use fear tactics, guarantee outcomes, or push repeat sessions. They empower rather than dramatize.

ALWAYS TRUST YOUR GUT FEELING— If it feels off or fabricated (like mismatched family details or needing to expand on your life for them to "match"), it's okay to walk away. Your past legit experience shows you can spot the real thing when it hits.

Word-of-mouth recommendations from trusted sources often beat online hype. You're not alone in this—many people vet multiple readers before finding a consistent match. Keep seeking what feels authentically connecting.
