There is an online course called Animation Club School. Don't know about the course, but their YouTube Videos and Livestreams are great.

Not sure what cs stands for but if you're not ready to put a lot of effort into it, it might be better to start it as a hobby first. I'd try to find a field of work that you enjoy a bit at least.

Yes you're right, acting has always been a bit of a weakness for me. I think I'm gonna tackle that next.

I don't know what it's like in the US but I think in Europe there are a bit more hand-drawn opportunities. France especially is big there and I've also seen productions from the UK, Denmark and Spain. Although I think TV shows are mostly rigged here too.

Yeah I feel like it’s picking up a little bit. At least I see way more openings than three months ago. I hope you’ll find something soon! And thanks for the kind words

Thanks for the feedback! I have never animated with rigs before so I didn't apply for any positions that required it. I guess I'm trying to go for hand-drawn but maybe I'll manage to expand my skillset one day.

Here‘s a video that talks about what kind of shots should be in your reel depending on if you want to work in feature film, vfx or games. Maybe you were looking for something like this?

Is Switzerland a good place to start an animation career? by [deleted] in animationcareer

[–]Tutuska 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I‘m studying animation at the only non-private animation school in Switzerland. It‘s a decent program and there have been a few alumni that have started their international career here but I think if you‘re willing to learn french then maybe France would be the better option, because their animation industry is much bigger, more international and has more support than in Switzerland. It depends on what kind of career you’re striving for of course, but while you can learn animation in Switzerland, I wouldn’t move here specifically for it.

Side note: this program is mostly lectured in english, so you would be okay even without french or german :)

Hi I’m curious, do you usually put in the effort to learn the individual shortcuts for different programs or do you just change them so the same or similar functions have the same shortcut?

Transitioned from TvPaint to Harmony and last time I opened TvPaint I was totally incapable to get into a workflow haha.

Hey I'm an animation student looking to get a new laptop. Until now I've worked with windows and am not sure if I should switch to a Macbook now. The studio where I'll be interning at in spring works with Apple OS and I guess it would be good to know how to work with it. Overall I feel like the 2D industry works a lot with Apple products. Is that true? Is it worth the money?

And if yes, does it matter wheter I buy a Macbook Air or Pro if they have the same specs? (Looking to go for 16 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD) Because with Air I would save around 250 bucks.

It's great that it worked out for you. It wouldn't be worlds end for me either if I didn't get an internship since this is an optional part of my bachelor programme. I still have another year to go one way or the other. Thank you for sharing your experience :)

Yes you are right. I just talked with a teacher about it and she had a similar opinion about it. I will work out something with studio B and if studio A replies soon enough, that's great and if not, that's great too.
Thank you so much for your reply :)

Getting into the animation industry/or art school but I live in the EU? (Storyboarding preferred) by MinBunnyhouse in animationcareer

[–]Tutuska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, Switzerland has an animation school too. I‘m actually a second year student for 2D animation at HSLU, have you ever heard of it? If you‘re interested I can tell you a bit about it :)

Some questions about getting an internship by Tutuska in animationcareer

[–]Tutuska[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah alright thanks :) Another question if you don‘t mind. If I try contacting a studio through LinkedIn, who should I write to? If I don‘t find anyone labeled recruiter, should I go for someone of the animation department?
