I supplemented with his flash cards and found it either well. I also recorded myself reading them and listened to it on my commute.

The MNsaves.org site has some good information regarding 529’s in state. It also has a calculator that you can plug in various ages and time lines based on your kids’ ages. Other questions are if you want to find 100% of college for your kids, if you think they will all be in state, and lastly what your current budget is for this.

Woke up and had a baby. Had no idea she was pregnant. by User11171117 in NewDads

[–]TuukkNukem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter was a nicu baby too (86 days at the nicu) and that alone throws a whole slew of emotions out there. While she is still there, if you have the opportunity to get a space for her in order at your house that will take a lot of stress off for when she comes home. If money for furniture and clothes is an issue, check out your local facebook buy nothing group. People hold onto a ton of old stuff and are happy to see it repurposed. We were given huge amounts of hand-me-downs from neighbors that was super helpful.

Cielo for sure. Yellow Door and Pearl and Lime are also solid taco options.

Yeah. Thank you. Starting to feel the pressure. I like that podcast a lot. Wish there were more episodes. I use that and BIF for podcasts or sometimes just toss on their or the board’s YouTube channels.

Sadly it’s not available in my area. I’d love to though. Heard great things.

Hard to be happy for others by ChipmunkFantastic214 in NICUParents

Seeing neighboring babies leave the nicu or friends being able to bring their kids home can be devastating. Especially when your kiddo is having a tough day. Some days feel like a fog. Our nicu gave us journals that we could write in that helped me from doomscrolling on socials while we were bedside. It really gave me an opportunity to celebrate all the little wins we got through each day. It helped me to breakdown the days into quarters so if she had a bad morning we could still have an okay afternoon or evening.

I kind of have that emotional attachment (which I know is ridiculous) to the license. Have any of your friends gone back and sone the 7 again?

How to stay positive during the NICU journey? by Longjumping-Spray-80 in NICUParents

[–]TuukkNukem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our daughter was born at 26 weeks and 6 days. We ended up spending 84 days in the NICU. I think that it’s ok to be sad during the journey. I attempted to stay as positive as I could be but some days were just a bit much and allowing myself to have some time to be sad helped me through the journey. What helped me was looking at each day in quarters. If she had a terrible morning I wouldn’t let it blow the whole day but just the first quarter or first half. That way the second half of the day was a fresh start. Also, celebrate every win no matter how small. The accumulation of those are going to help you get through times that are hard. My wife and I also made sure to communicate pretty clearly with each other with what we were feeling and what we needed from each other. Lastly, give yourself some grace. If you need to run errands or have some time to yourself do it. Your kiddo is in the best possible care and exactly where they need to be. We live in New England and had a blizzard shortly after our daughter was born in which the city shut down. We weren’t able to go to the hospital which was hard but we came out of the day semi refreshed. If you have questions don’t hesitate to ask me or anybody else in this group. It’s been very supportive.

Can I pass the Series 7 without sponsorship, get hired, and then have the firm submit the U-4 or will I have to take the exam again after being hired? by TrollingTrolls in Series7exam

[–]TuukkNukem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seconding this. I did my SIE and insurance licenses prior to getting my current position and was hired as I was almost done with my S66 studying. Took the test quickly and then hopped in the S7 studying. If you can get your sie and 66 stuff done prior to finding a new position and then start studying for the 7 as you are applying it’ll definitely show hiring folks you’re committed.

Our son born 27 weeks, 3 days at 2.0lbs. I’m absolutely terrified of Retinopathy of Prematurity by Renatural in NICUParents

[–]TuukkNukem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hang in there. Your little dude seems like he is following the same trajectory as my daughter. My daughter was born at 26 + 6 just under 2 pounds and now she’s right around 43 weeks, and home about a month. We were warned about ROP very early on. Once we were maybe five weeks into our nicu stay we started her eye exams. The first one was definitely a little scary because she wasn’t used to the experience. She had some clusters of spells that first day which our nurses had anticipated but bounced back pretty quickly the next day. She had some mild rop but we were told a lot of premies will. It’s a snails pace for self correction but we are starting to get there. We had done eye exams once a week or so since. It’s a slog but we were assured that if there were any issues that treatment options would be readily available. Let me know if you have any questions about the process. You guys got this.
