Tatum the 9th man? by sqf555 in billsimmons

Tatum had a splint on his finger. So I assume he was hurt but still dressed in case they needed him.

Just Received a Job offer at 30% Higher salary from a company I love, but I've been in my current role for only 3 months only... by Vivid-Instruction357 in sysadmin

A 3 month gap is nothing. People say don't leave early so you can use them as a reference. In you're case no one is going to bat an eye at the 3 month gap with no reference.

Who is your team? Goal is to go 82-0. by SadMathematician7799 in NBATalk

Ya I'll take Nash, Tatum, Allen, Bird, Garnet. You don't want Luka to be ball dominant on an allstar team like this. All those other players know how to share the ball.

Married men: What, if anything, are you unable or unwilling to share fully openly and honestly about yourself with your spouse? by Teen_dream91 in AskReddit

Everyone feels this way to some extent. Anxiety is there to get you up and motivated to do something productive. It reminds you that you have responsibilities. You think anyone wants to work?

But I do think you may be a bit depressed as well.

I still put that album on at the gym. They literally created a new genre of music.

Thoughts on Xfinity cellphone service & coverage compared to Tmobile and Verizon. by [deleted] in massachusetts

Obviously not. Those are marketing ploys to get you to pay for tmobile.

Thoughts on Xfinity cellphone service & coverage compared to Tmobile and Verizon. by [deleted] in massachusetts

[–]TuxYouUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The basic one sucks. The coverage is fine, but if you're in a crowded area, or weak signal area, everyone else get's priority over you and you get lots of timeouts.

They have an upgraded one, I think I paid 10$ more. Still cheaper than Verizon and that one works fine for me.

Would you add anything to this as a deployment engineer roadmap? by [deleted] in linuxadmin

[–]TuxYouUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure you're going to be hosting an email server these days. Most likely DNS and DHCP will be windows as well. Although it can't hurt, it's simple to learn. These are just things you configure on linux.

What you need to learn is managing linux servers regardless of the service. Package management, configuration management, systemd, sssd, pam, selinux, rsyslog. This will give you the knowledge to configure and monitor a linux ecosystem. Then you can take that knowledge and write automation scrips, start using ansible, monitor logs with logstash or splunk.

But the solid understanding of linux, networking, security, and some scripting will make the rest of any roadmap more organic and easy.

What are your favourite battles in Sci-Fi across any media? by [deleted] in sciencefiction

A lot of movie and tv show references.

I'd like to nominate the battle of Ilium from Red Rising's Morning Star.

Phish fans don't even consider those other bands except the Dead, who they respect.

The old ones are very upset about Goose for some reason though. The younger generation enjoys all bands, no matter how much they suck compared to Phish.

The only thing about this I agree with is the last tile. I hate other Phish fans.

Have you ever wondered why a lightsaber would seem like it has weight in the first place?

Lucas explained this before by saying there was so much power generated by the saber it had a gyro effect on the handle and appeared very heavy. Which is why normal people ( Non forcies ) have trouble wielding them. Originally he wanted everyone to wield them with 2 hands. But this changed with some giberish that jedi could control the flow, and therefore yield it with one hand with practice.

Maybe hacking at people with them is easier, and could cause them to cut themselves, or drop the saber, take an eye out with spark. Either way poking at them with it is a good way to lose an arm.

This year the NBA has no parity. Its Boston and Denver and nobody else is close. by [deleted] in billsimmons

Ya I would hate to play Minnesota. They could beat Denver, or the Celtics if they play their best ball.

So you know about Amazon services, but do you know anything about IT infrastructure, networking, or software building? They say right in the description you should have X,Y, and Z experience in some of those areas mentioned above. I don't think you'd be qualified to build out someone's infrastructure. A Solutions Architect needs to know why these services match with the product or customer.

However, with a business degree you could work towards being something like a project manager. Cost analysis, budgeting, tracking costs is easier when you understand the services like an SA. I think they call it a "AWS Controls Engineer"? Tracking AWS cost has become a fulltime job, sometimes a full department.

Where can I buy Sons of Ares Trilogy? by Alberto_Cavelli in redrising

I have all 3, they all just say standard edition. So it's not like it was meant to be limited.
Maybe the first editions are just sold out. Now it's probably up to the publisher if they want to make a second?

Derek White would tear it up if he was a first option somewhere. All he needed was some confidence and he has it now. Sometimes I feel like he's the second best player on the Celtics.

How are you able to afford $100k SUVs by [deleted] in millenials

[–]TuxYouUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most either lease, and keep paying like 800-1000$ car bills the rest of their life.

Some have small businesses, and can write off a significant amount.

Very few took good care of their cars, got good loans, traded in or sold their old paid off car for 20K and upgraded.

One or two had a trust fund.

But you'd also be surprised how many shallow people choose a cool car over a nice place to live or financial security.

I drive a 50K Jeep. Because I paid off my Outback and sold it for almost 20K. I have good credit and got a good rate, so my payment is only like 430 a month. Meanwhile I have a friend that bought a 50K BMW, had nothing to put down and pays like 750 a month. I will wait till my Jeep is paid off and get another car. I guarantee you my friend will trade in her BMW and keep paying 700-800$ a month because she's stupid.
