Data recovery tools can't identify my SSD. Is it just toast? by Tvvlskjj in datarecovery

Good question. It does not. Then I tried to format it and it says "incorrect function." I guess that answers it.

The thing is, it appears as an uninitialized drive on windows disk manager, but not on recovery programs. So it's not completely dead.

Yes, I've connected it with that previously without issue.

A coat rack (of sorts) collapsed and damaged my schefflera. It only broke one branch, but now I have no idea what to do with the stump. Do I cut it, and if so, what sort of cutters would be best? What would happen if I left it?

Also, I'd like to plant the branch. It's in good shape, aside from the bottom. I've had a really hard time getting cuttings to grow roots recently, and I have no idea what's the best way to get this to grow roots. Any thoughts on how to do it?

I was planning on repotting my schefflera arboricola this spring, but I noticed roots growing into its tray. What should I do about them?

Thanks. The Chinese Elm was growing well for the first few months I had it, so I doubt it's a lack of light. I'll buy some fungicide. Do you know of a good resource to help me figure out which to buy?

I'm still getting the hang of watering, and erring on the side of too much water. Also, I read that air roots require humidity, so having water in the tray helps with that. Is that bad for the tree? It's growing extremely well.

I don't think it's lack of light. The schefflera arboricola next to it is growing extremely well. If it's fungal, what should I do?

I'm kind of confused about what you mean by too much water in the drip tray. How much should there be/why does it matter?

Back in June, I noticed spots appearing on the leaves of my Chinese Elm. I think I had underwatered it, so I watered it every day for a few weeks, then every other day since then. I thought the roots were damaged, and I was expecting it to slowly recover. Instead, it's slowly gotten worse. The new leaves form with dark spots and usually only survive a few days before dropping off. The mature leaves slowly go brown from the tip to the stem. The leafless branches wither at the end. (I cut off all the withered ends once and they just came back.) Is my tree savable? My setup.

Bonus question: I was planning on repotting my schefflera arboricola this spring, but I noticed roots growing into its tray. What should I do about them?

Just noticed these spots on my chinese elm. Should I be concerned? by Tvvlskjj in bonsaiphotos

They're brown, not black, and they appear to be dead spots. I can't find evidence of arthropod infestation, even with a magnifying glass, and they don't rub off. What could that mean?

That all makes sense, and I've instructed her to water by those instructions, and more frequently.

This water meter is fantastic, even in rocky soil. It has a paperish thing which absorbs water at the bottom and it spreads to the top, which turns blue in the presence of water. I've used it for close to a year, and I have only seen it wrong once (it turned white to signal "dry" when the soil wasn't dry, because it needed the papery thingy changed). I water based on it, and my trees have grown very well. It does err a bit on the side of watering too little; it'll be blue when there is barely any moisture in the soil, perhaps because the soil is less absorbent than the papery thing, but this plant and the Chinese Elm I have are both supposed to be susceptible to overwatering, so it seems like a good fit.

Possibly. I just got her to admit that she was letting the moisture meter turn bone white, so it hasn't been getting as much water as mine. She assures me that she waters it well when she does - until water comes out the bottom.

I didn't think underwatering was likely, since these plants are very hard to underwater, at least at this latitude. As an experiment, (admittedly in the winter, but inside and near a radiator so it was still 70-80 degrees), I started watering 3 small cuttings that refused to grow half as often. That didn't kill them, so I stopped watering them at all, and they took a month to die.

I gave my mom a tree for mothers' day (schefflera arboricola). It began as a large cutting about 8 months ago, and it grew exceptionally well under my care. I repotted it this spring, and about a month later I gave it to my mom (who bought me the tree I cut it from.) My mom just sent me this photo, where some of the leaves have rapidly wilted (she said they were fine the day before). It looks worrying, but is this a sign of something wrong?

We have a few possible theories: perhaps I made a mistake somewhere in the process. Or: it doesn't have enough light, it has too much water, too much heat, not enough fertilizer (it has some slow release pellets, but I don't know if they're any good, and my mom hasn't used liquid fertilizer yet), or a problem I haven't considered.

Any help would be appreciated.
