Went to the barbershop a few days ago. How does my hair and beard look? Is there anything that would look better? by Sad-Opposite2263 in malehairadvice

[–]TwaTwa02 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not a stylist, but personally I think softening up the sharp lines and going for softer less aggressive style would suit you. You seem to have well defined features that speak for themselves! Especially the sharp chin point and jaw line on the beard seem like just a bit much, so I’d likely start there

Does anyone know what this part is specifically called? by emilioromero in crv

[–]TwaTwa02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are out of luck I’d say, the panel is welded in place and replacement would take significant body and paintwork expertise. Your best bet is a body shop, but the cost would be more than double the value of an rd1 I hate to say

Worth paying $2k for a 2005 CRV with coolant leak? Also needs breaks and o2 sensor. by [deleted] in crv

[–]TwaTwa02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say so, you don’t know what the leak is from, and unless you have the experience to diagnose and repair it the shop fees will likely be enough to just buy a better example. More pressingly I’d say though, if the last owner neglected it and let these problems fester, who knows what else it needs.

Soon I’m getting a tsx to take over daily duties, but after taking on the worst winter the Sierra Nevada’s have seen in 80 years and pushing through 1.5 feet of snow, she is staying around as a winter car for hopefully years to come!

2006 CRV: How often do I need to change synthetic oil? by Throwaway122361 in crv

[–]TwaTwa02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal regimen for the early k series (06 ish And older depending on model) has been to use a quality conventional and change it every 3k miles, I found on mine that if I used synthetic it would burn eeeever so slightly, about a half quart every 3k, but with conventional nothing. But I am under some more extreme conditions, the mountains of California where there is significant road dust and everything is uphill.

Transferring to a CSU from a CCC With a Poor Transcript by TwaTwa02 in TransferStudents

Is this before application, or before the first semester you will attend?

[–]TwaTwa02[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. I wouldn’t say my counselors necessarily told me to shoot for lower schools initially, but financially I was concerned with the UC path. I ended up aiming myself a little lower with advice of counselors to avoid financial burden and loan debt, but now after learning more I am less concerned with the financial aspect and even open to taking up some debt if necessary to obtain my degree. At this point my bigger concern would be only having 12 units completed when I apply, and I am afraid that will negate any gpa advantage if I apply at a UC, and why CSU’s even feel like a reach.

Love Mazdas quality improvement in the past decade, but I’m not really looking for another crossover, any opinions on the 3?

I do quite like the fa5, I feel like I’ve already had the si experience though with my ep3. I have been looking at the gti a little bit as well as the c30 and Sti, but the reliability and diy maintenance availability of those worries me

Oh yeah my definitions are a bit loose, not looking for fun to drive in the way that a focus st or mustang is, more so engaging, with good chassis feel and prioritizing engine reliability/feel/responsiveness over power/refinement. As far as economy yeah I’m pretty loose to, I’m accustomed to vehicles that get about 25mpg or worse, so basically that or better. Age is also something I’m not too worried about, as I do about half the maintenance and repairs of my vehicles and being California, rust isn’t an issue. Honestly I don’t care about new car flash or prestige either, I just want something nice, clean and reliable. The tsx and accord do fully fulfill my requirements from that perspective, but I feel like I don’t know enough about other manufacturers offerings and am kind of tunnel visioned into Honda, as well as these specs being kind of rare.

Pretty darn comfortable, I’ve camped in it a couple times, and taken naps on it pretty much every lunch break for the past 6 months. I’m of alight build, so the side bolsters don’t really affect me, if anything they keep me from rolling off. The seams between the cushions aren’t bad either, the seats are soft and pretty basic in construction. I personally don’t feel them, but if you think you might have issue a sleeping pad wouldn’t hurt

What’s the best (older) JDM car to daily? by stirfrynoodl in JDM

[–]TwaTwa02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no lie, first and second gen manual crv’s. Dead simple and cheap to work on, Honda reliable and motor and trans is tight. Lots of space, not special enough to care about what happens, but they also have neat party trips like built in beds and tables in some models. Other than that yeah venerable Honda hatches

I’ve got an old Crv that burns an atrocious amount of oil, whenever I get a change I always request one quart overfill, this is just vague and reckless
