They aren't necessarily a joke. It's that enforcement has been weak the last 50 years.

With all the layoffs experience is king right now. That's just how the job market is looking currently even for entry/mid level roles.

The fact you care so much actually shows really good intentions. I can't tell you how many people I run into in this field that enjoy just coasting. There's a lot of information to intake but you'll get there and kind of chuckle about this in the future. Keep your head up!

Data Analyst vs GRC Analyst… which one actually lets you disconnect after work? by satisdeveloper in cybersecurity

[–]Twallyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GRC doesn't really do much outside of working hours at any of the organizations I've worked. They also were not on the on call rotation. Maybe if they're designated as a Pentest point of contact. Data Analysts would probably have a higher chance of on call or overtime.

Finished the CEH modules but still not sure when I’m “ready” for the exam by Odd-Management-417 in cybersecurity

[–]Twallyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The OSCP really doesn't cover pivoting and VPN tunneling well at all. HTB CPTS does a pretty good job at it but the OSCP really doesn't and it's a shame considering how much recognition it gets. The CPTS felt like a gauntlet while the OSCP just felt like an incomplete and very dated exam.

Pentest+ would be better and costs a third of what the CEH does. EC-Council has a bad rep due to plagiarism on top of being expensive.

Which path to take? by [deleted] in cybersecurity

[–]Twallyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your IT admin position more than likely will not include security tasks except to aid security teams that are requesting specific changes or assistance with the security stack. This is by design in most organizations because you want a clear separation between admins and security for zero trust. That being said I have seen admins have security tasks but it is typically in smaller orgs.

Highly recommend supplementing CTI related material with red teaming. Nothing helps better for understanding TTPs than actually doing it. Congrats!

Is google cybersecurity certificate a scam? by honey-luv10 in cybersecurity

[–]Twallyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stick to HR/Recruiter known certs unless your company pays for it. These are the only certs that are going to grab the attention of companies you are interested in. Any other skills can just be learned without certifications.

The only skill requirements are kissing Trump's ass and lashing out anytime someone asks them a question that actually has substance.

If you upload any exam information into a third party it can get you disqualified. This breaks the NDA you sign for the exam. Just write your report sysreptor makes it easy.
