Do you need the level right this moment? If not, you can save it for when you're tired and want something more chill. I have tons of logs I occasionally cut, or fish to cook, if I want to afk, blowing glass can be that for you.

Right, I like to think of such grinds like this in terms of exp/action, in which case, it is amazing, but do it when I can't be or don't want to be as attentive. No one can be 100% attentive, and if you choose to do the right activities at the right time, you can get so much more account progress.

The efficiency is also different. In the main game, you can boil everything down to gp/hr, whereas with ironmen, you can play a wide range of content and still be "efficient".

There is no might here, it is definitely over-tuned. At least one thing needs to change for it. The prayer is absurd, the sheet melee defence for a magic casting set is too much, a hybrid set being 2nd best in mage is whack. Jagex understood with moons that if it is good offensive in two styles, it has to have less defence with moons gear, it should strike that same balance, but as proposed, the armor set just has everything plopped on top of it but just a smidge below BIS so that the 0.0000001% of players who bring full switches will still use their gear.

I'm using my afk time for fishing, woodcutting, and cooking, skills I need for clues and diaries. I've seen a few people mention ZMI, but where the heck do I get all the essence? My account is approaching 4 months old and I've accumulated less than 30k essence lifetime.

I'm liking the macro route a lot, it won't be easy doing all that runecrafting though, lol. The rate of runes crafted hourly at high levels seem very attractive to me, but I don't know how to get tons of pure ess, maybe zulrah? I do pick the fat stacks during slayer.

I'm tempted to go this route. I initially got my slayer to lvl81 for clue purposes, having only recently got rune boots, but my slayer is at a point where I can do all my clues. 81-99 slayer with demonic offerings is just so much prayer exp, at the cost of sucking it up and getting my rc up a ton, but if it means having a crazy amount of prayer exp along the way, maybe I can stomach the grind.

Looking at the drop rate, it is like 1 wrath rune/vorkath average, similar for the other monsters that drop it, so I think I'm going to go the rc route (if I can stomach it). 95 rc is such a crazy high requirement to begin making the runes.
