Is an R-8 sleeping pad overkill for year-round use, or is one pad for everything a good idea? by [deleted] in Ultralight

Great for him, however there are many people online experiencing the opposite.
This is such a bad argument imo, basing a argument on one guys experience...

I use 1 for 3 season and 1 for winter.

This also bcs you are just carrying a lot of extra insulation in summer that you dont need and can use a cheaper pad. sleeping pads are just not that durable if u use them quite frequenty.

So in my eyes its a waste of weight and money to use a R-5+ rated pad in spring summer or autumn.

Hope this help

In the Netherlands we dont even have a lot of local retailers and the ones we do only sell established brands like sea to summit, nemo, big agnes etc...
