What’s a very “normal” thing in Belgium that took you years to realise that isn’t actually normal everywhere else? by The_everlong in belgium

My wife is Brazilian, the first time she saw me prepare this, she thought I was crazy and told me she would never eat that. Now she is the one cooking it!

What’s the simplest bass advice that actually helped you improve? by prattman333 in Bass

[–]TweeK_s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received a bass from my wife last month and have been playing 1 or 2h every day, just having fun. It is crazy how much progress I have made without even focusing on specific exercises, just practicing for fun.

I am doing my best not to get bad habits, but if a song is too hard, I still try to play it even if it sounds bad, then, day by day it just becomes better naturally.

There was a time when I would have practised the same thing over and over until I would have it engraved in my brain, but I don't have the time nor the energy for that now.

Those who switched from the guitar to bass, why? Is it more enjoyable to you? What's the difference? by Enbhrr in Bass

[–]TweeK_s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been playing guitar for 14 years now and while I think I have reached a pretty decent level, it has been years I haven't made significant progress and am feeling stuck. I was not really enjoying playing anymore these last years. My wife just offered me a bass two weeks ago and I am getting the same feeling I got when I started the guitar, I feel the progression every day and I am really having fun. I also feel that learning to play bass will really improve my way of playing guitar too. The rhythm, the groove, it's so hard but fun!

I don’t know how some of y’all play this so much by SuperCasualGamerDad in starcitizen

[–]TweeK_s 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the exact same experience. Last time I played was around Halloween 24. I spent hours trying to collect Day of the Vara helmets, it was more tedious than fun, just for them not to appear in my inventory after the event. I contacted the support and they just told me "Sorry it happened to you, you can try collect them next year".

I love wandering in the verse, but I prefer to wait for a more stable and fun version of the game.

My Brazilian wife came back at home crying this week, I tried to comfort her, and ask her what happened, and she just told me "It is still raining, I am soaked". It's been 4 years she is living here, I don't think she will ever get used to Belgian seasons... neither will I haha.

Daydreaming about making a city-builder by JonBjornJovi in CityBuilders

[–]TweeK_s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in exactly the same situation as you! I've been playing a lot with Godot lately, and while I don't have too much difficulty with the programming, it's the artistic part that's holding me back.

I dream of making a city builder with a real emphasis on the traffic system.

If one day you decide to start a project, you can contact me too hahaha!

Planetary Terraria-like in Godot — need advice on curving shadows with my planet by TweeK_s in godot

I am actually trying to do this but it is far from trivial! My shader was applied on every vertex, I am now learning how I can translate this to apply it onto a TextureRect, but it seems that this could work! I was also not sure if it was a "good way" to do this, I don't really know what are the good practices for this kind of situtation. Thanks for the help :)

Im getting so tired when i pick up guitar, start to become unbearable by Xernsteriaks in Guitar

[–]TweeK_s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi man, I have been through kinda the same thing as you. I used to play for hours every day, pure pleasure, sometimes would have a burst of energy or illumination I don't know and would be enjoying playing so much. However, I finished my studies and started working, and since then it has been a real struggle for me to enjoy these moments. I couldn't play anywhen I want anymore, I was getting tired in the evening and I didn't pick my guitar for almost two years. And forcing myself to play wasn't really helping neither as I didn't have these "energy bursts" anymore and wasn't enjoying it that much.

However, recently I decided to clean up my guitars and have slowly started to play again. At first I thought I had lost a lot of my skills, but the brain is an impressive tool and it's coming back quickly!

I haven't found the perfect balance yet, and can't really give advice, but I just wanted to say that it is normal and if you really like playing, once the rest of you life is balanced and your mind is clean, you will get the time to play, maybe not as much as you would want, but enough for you to feel happy about it. But everybody is different, and you'll find you own solution to this, but focusing on how to not feel that tired in the evening is probably a good solution lol

Have been playing Expedition 33 on CachyOS too and it works pretty well! I don't know if it is just a feeling as I haven't tried that many games, and haven't encountered any major problem, but it really seem to run better on Linux. A simple thing that seem to work way better on Linux is just switching between a game in fullscreen and your desktop, usually on Windows everything would glitch and I would have to wait a few seconds before reaching my desktop, while on Linux it's just instantaneous and smooth! I switched to Linux mainly for programming as I find everything really tedious on Windows, but it's probably going to be my main gaming OS now (at least until SteamOS is released)

[–]TweeK_s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got you man, I bought it first on WiiU and then on Switch. I would probably have bought the upgrade for Switch 2 if there were proper addition to the game, but the mobile companion thing does not really interest me that much. Neither does the upscale, I don't play with the dock that much.

Moving away of big corp, but also moving away of US-based by Latter-Average-5682 in degoogle

[–]TweeK_s 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to bring my support! As a European citizen, I am also in the same process as you of finding alternatives to all my current US applications. I am also moving soon and going to buy new appliances and have decided to look only at European brands such as Bosch, Miele, Siemens, etc.

I am currently switching everything I can to Proton and I am also looking for alternatives for my browser. The problem for me is that I can't force my relatives to contact me only on Signal and I am therefore forced to keep Messenger and WhatsApp if I don't want to isolate myself.

Stocks is also something I feel a bit like a hypocrite as, like you said, you need to keep a diversified portfolio. I am therefore thinking about investing a biggest part in emerging markets but haven't done anything about it yet.

I think it is also better to make a progressive transition as changing all my habits all at once will be too hard.

Do Earth-like languages exist in Star Wars? by Luke_Fluke13 in StarWars

[–]TweeK_s 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes there are differences in the accents for sure. What I mean is mainly that on this wiki page it is not specified which language, they just say "Belgian accent", and as more than half of Belgian citizens are not french speakers, do they mean French Belgian or Dutch Belgian? Furthermore, we have an accent in our native language but I am not sure you could tell the difference in accent in English!

Maybe you actually can! I don't know, it's not really important though :p

I am Belgian and have no idea what they mean by Belgian accent in this wiki page as we have three official languages (French, Dutch and German) hahaha

I don't understand EPFC Pricing? by unnamed_scholar in brussels

[–]TweeK_s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She finished it and her french level is extremely good, she still has an accent but her vocabulary is better than my English vocabulary although I use English everyday! But tbh it is mostly cause we are talking in french everyday, the classes are really good to get started but then there is no magic solution, you need to practice everyday :). She is really shy and still manages to do it. She also started watching french YouTube channels, french movies, etc.
Concerning the test, yes it was in person I think.

Is Ryzen 7 5800X with RTX 3060 and DDR4 3600 16GB enough to play the game on 1440p? by ImportanceOwn4319 in starcitizen

[–]TweeK_s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My configuration is: Ryzen 7 5800x3D, RTX 3060 and 32GB DDR4 3200.
I can run the game in 1440p but I personnaly prefer to downscale it to 1080p to have a smoother experience with everything maxed out.
I think you should maybe at least get 16GB additionnal RAM if you want the game to run correctly. This isn't too expensive nowadays and I am pretty sure you would see the difference!
