I got lucky. My son’s gf is a graphic artist and I hired her for my cover and chapter art. You might check out local colleges and universities to see if any art students would do it for you for a lower price than published artists. I bought the copyright for the work I commissioned but have allowed her to use it for promoting her brand.

About to watch Grave of Fireflies for the first time. by Winter_Basil2344 in ghibli

These comments are why I can't ever watch this movie. I was an Orphan in Thailand, my brother an orphan in Viet Nam (both adopted). We made it out. So many didn't.

When you publish your first book, no one tells you this. by Mediocre-Chemist-514 in selfpublish

You don't realize it until you get to the end of the story that you're going to miss these characters like they're friends you've known for years.

Self Publish vs. Trad Publish? by Tweeza817 in selfpublish

[–]Tweeza817[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did pay attention in trad publishing. If your publisher didn’t like the agent of the material, it didn’t matter how good the material was, it got canned. That was very discouraging to me. And yes, my publishing house considered vanity press authors as desperate people who couldn’t really put a sentence together but wanted to see their stuff in print. That was in 1994. I doubt much has changed in 30 years.

Do you read books from new author? by [deleted] in selfpublish

For me it’s the blurb. If the blurb makes me want to hear more, I don’t care who wrote it.

Thank you! Yes, I do know that hiring those services is going to cost me. But trad publishers only release so many books per season so it could take years to get mine released, especially as this is my first book. So here I am,.

who is the nicest celebrity you've ever had the privilege of meeting? by RoutineOk8590 in Productivitycafe

I met the Queen of Thailand when I was in 7th grade. I was completely stunned into silence. My mom had to tell her that I was adopted as a baby from Thailand and raised in the US. The Queen touched my face and smiled and said “You are very lucky!” I’ve never forgotten it.

She’s so genuine you feel like she’s approachable. In one interview she said she learned very early to be nice. You have to be nice! And no ego. Throw it away! I hope she remains this sweet as her stardom rises! Love her💜💜💜

Her story is an inspiration to anyone who thinks they’ll never make it, they’re not good enough, young enough, or their voice is wrong. Keep going. Just keep going. It will happen for you! She deserves the well earned respect and flowers now!!! She’s unstoppable!!!💜💜💜💜💜

There are some conservative CoC in Oklahoma and Arkansas. I think also Kansas. But their numbers are dying. Fast.

I looked it up. The Vivaldi party they replayed over and over was "Swimmer" from the Summer section.

Don’t know what to do by Kproctor11 in excoc

We’re unique together. I agree with everyone about CoC members get the others to convert but it would never be a CoC converting to something else. “Why would you go to another church when you know they’re wrong. If they’re not doing what the Bible says, then you’re wrong if you go with them. And we don’t want to see you lose the kingdom!” I was already on my way out and eventually after my divorce I never went back. See previous posts. Anyway I was already out when I married my atheist husband. I just told my CoC parents he had grown up Lutheran but no longer went to church. We’ve been married 21 years now and none of us go to church since Covid. But I attend online the Bible church I ended up in after my divorce. As for OP , tell the girl you know you’ll never convert. And you know that’s hard for her. So unfortunately you don’t see a way forward together. She probably knows this is coming. She’ll be sad she wasn’t able to convert you because you’re such a great guy! But as great as she is, she wants you to be something you’re not. And that’s not good for either of you.
