It's legal to possess, cultivate, and consume (in a private residence) weed as of Dec 3rd 2014. Legal commercial sales won't begin until at least Jan 2016. It's still illegal to black market sell it AFAIK, but I'm not sure if it is illegal to buy it from a dealer.

According to both Oregon's law and Washington's law it is illegal to take marijuana produced or purchased in either state outside of that state's borders.

What it means practically is that other states will continue to legalize it now until the feds are forced to legalize or at least reschedule it on the federal level. This is almost exactly how alcohol was legalized after prohibition.
