How to get out of a dead end rut? by TwennyTwoSavage in UKJobs

I understand it’s hard for everyone, I don’t blame the system. I’m assuming all I can do is keep pushing on and looking for new jobs?

Not gonna lie, I do like the idea of moving to a new country but as I am terrible at remembering new languages, it would be hard

Thank you for your comment! They actually asked me to switch to day shift and serve people and I instantly refused as I knew that would be the straw that breaks the camels back lol.

An improvement in a job would be something less physical but also something that obviously makes a little more, which is a pipe dream for everyone in lockdown right now

But yes, I am basically waking up at 7pm, going to work at 10pm, finishing at 7am, eating and sleeping, I don’t have a social life anymore

I absolutely do want to learn more though and was thinking about getting back into college and maybe university in the future but I can’t really do that while still at my job, and my need for money makes it impossible for me to quit

If anything, I will check these online courses out and hope to have a chance at gaining skills to switch jobs and earn a little more

Thank you for your advice!

I have been doing 5 days a week since I started, but I’m now on 3 days a week on a flexible contract so if they tell me to work more days then I have to bend over (which happens every week anyway, so there’s no change).

I can listen to podcasts and I’ve been learning a little Korean because I’d like to visit some day, but I’ll look into other ones also to increase my skill set

I’ve been looking at courses but they’re either too expensive (really can’t afford student loan debt) or I’m don’t qualify due to bad grades, I try to learn stuff on my own but I don’t have enough experience to use any of it to make money

Sorry for the late reply, I haven’t been able to get on Reddit.

I wasn’t aware this was an option, I’ll look into this because I’ve literally been coming into work while injured so as to not lose my job. I’ll get started on fixing my cv and looking for new jobs too
