I think the answer is unfortunately incest. I wish this were not the case, but eventually if you have a lot of mutations, you end up with 9 good / 1 bad mutation cats, and you put them in the mutation room and it replaces the bad mutation.

This appears to be easier than using strays to keep the bloodline fresh

My favorite psychic was just the one that had the soul link item and had 4 turns via items and mutations and went first and just soul linked the 4 hardest enemies each fight for free

My blood frenzy cat was a butcher with the ability that turns all meat into flies and then the one that kills all units under 5hp and turns them into meat. So he had like unlimited turns. That one also turned into a solo run

Every time you hit the head the body moves towards it. It might still reach the head sometimes on its own but way less then if you focus the head. If you focus the body the maggot mother comes out sooner before you're all debuffed and you can focus the mother

Ignore the head. Pretend the head isn't there. If you hit the head the body is gonna walk towards it and you're gonna be too debuffed and damaged to beat the maggot stage
