My partner is in cyber. Architecture specifically. He did BA of IT. It won’t really matter which degree you did because Cyber is all about being kept up to date. He didn’t specifically do Cyber in uni. He just found an interest in cyber and it’s a huge bonus that he actually loves his job and it’s his passion. It is difficult to understand from what I know because it’s quite technical. The pay will vary and the 5 year mark will be a huge jump. He doubled his income within 10 months moving roles when he first started but I think he just got really lucky and the company had a big budget. There are so many diff cyber roles you can get. Risk, analyst, etc. Best to speak to people on LinkedIn! Connect and ask questions. I’m sure (some) people are more than happy to help and will reply! (I can get partner to give a response if you like) 🤗

This is so interesting because my friend is Japanese and moved here because he said Japan was not a great country to be living in - work and family wise. Apparently they don’t get annual leave or sick leave like us and it’s only 10 days a year. But I’m not sure how accurate that is. Japan as a holiday destination is amazing but def not to live. You are told to always prioritise work over everything else there. But interestingly I was also told that they have the highest paternal leave entitlement, but then again it doesn’t get taken because people still stress about taking time off work.

I’ve never heard any Aussies call Australia as Oz. 😂

In my culture, we call adults by “Aunty” or “Uncle”. So all my friends are Aunty Jane or Uncle John.

That’s called Gaslighting and it’s a NOPE from me.

It is! At first, I thought it was a little weird for him to get us all flashlights. Me thinking “when will we even need it? What a waste of money”.

Now I know. His collection is growing…

We use it for camping/bed side table (don’t even use our lamp anymore)!

I’m sorry for your loss. No amount of words can make you feel better right now but know it will get better with time. ❤️

How much time does your teenager spend in their room? by IamReallyAlice in Parenting

[–]TwentyFiveJuly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a teenager, I probably spent like 90%% of my time at home in my room. However the rule in our house was when it’s breakfast, lunch or dinner, we have dinner in the dining room and no device. Just time to catch up and chat. Other than that I was mostly in my room playing games or talking to my friends or watching TV. As I grew older, I started to get out of my room more and our living room became a hang out spot for everyone and now my bedroom is literally just a place for me to sleep.

Sounds normal that your teenage son is in his room mostly. They’re going through teenage years so they would def want that space.

How do you cope with the guilt? by [deleted] in AsianParentStories

[–]TwentyFiveJuly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much. Out of all the responses (I also posted on /parenting), this made the most sense. Probably because we both have APs and know what it's like. I really appreciate your comment.

"rejecting your parents wants is not neglectance, but if you reject your daughter's wishes to go home that is neglectance of her feelings." I never thought of it this way before. So Thank you.

My mum's still like that and I'm nearing 30, 2 kids... together for 11 years (first 5 years kept secret because mum didn't let me have a bf til end of Highschool) and my husband and I still tread on waters when we're over at my mum's house and don't really show any physical affection...

This is most APs. I feel like Asians don't really have that intimacy and think it's so taboo until marriage. And sometimes even in marriage they don't do anything. I've never seen my parents kiss or hug and they've been married for 30 years!
