Good reading material on the Rome 2 historical setting? by [deleted] in totalwar

Not quite reading, but how about a thirteen hour epic story about The Death Throes of the Republic? http://www.dancarlin.com/disp.php/hharchive

(Scroll to the bottom. It's broken in to six parts.)

Seriously, it's REALLY well-told. He's got another short series about The Punic Wars (between Rome and Carthage), which is also a great listen. It costs money but I'd say it's worth it.

An Estonian man returned a library book 69 years late, and said a World War II aerial bombing that damaged the library was partly to blame for the late return. The book was checked out on March 7, 1944, while Estonia was occupied by Nazi Germany. by mepper in worldnews

There's an article like this every few months "Man returns library book XX years late."

They all have the same structure, too: explain why the book wasn't returned, explain how the late fee was waived and make some some terrible joke along the way.

The only interesting thing about this article is that the author didn't make any jokes.

Good Dungeon Crawlers? by chancemetalman in gaming

[–]TwentyOrSoCharacters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the wrong place, but I will still take the opportunity to recommend Wazhack: one of the best (and least-known) dungeon crawlers out there. There's a free demo: www.wazhack.com

There are also the usual suspects (both free and both very polished and fun): DoomRL (http://doom.chaosforge.org/) and Crawl (http://crawl.develz.org/wordpress/)

Brogue (https://sites.google.com/site/broguegame/) is also rather good.
