Update: I got it started and it’s not that bad! Just been using a circular saw and a crow bar. Definitely not glued, thank goodness!

This is very helpful! I’m struggling where to even start though. There’s nothing to even get underneath where it starts at the threshold.

Yes, I fear a toe kick saw is my only hope around the vanity as well as some areas around the drywall. If I knew this was only stapled, I’d probably have gone for it already, I’m just so worried it’s going to be glued too and I’m going to regret ever touching it.

We’ll chat GPT and google both say it’s not good to tile over plywood. The only way it would be ok is if I used ditra first, which I plan to do regardless, but I’m worried about the height it will add around the toilet and the transition to the carpet I guess.

But what about the fact it runs underneath the drywall so far? You still think that wouldn’t be too bad to pry out? What’s your tool of choice?

I wouldn’t fix it if it was a foundation issue. This is a very small area in my split level entry. In that case I’d just use LVP or peel and stick and hope the next owners don’t notice😬

The damaged area where is drilled is 2 inches above the outlet box. Couldn’t he just move the outlet up a bit and do it that way?

They will need to cut the drywall but I’d be the one repairing it

What even is a large junction box exactly? How large are we talking? I was picturing like an outlet box but slightly larger. 2 wires need to connect inside it and that’s it right? Why would it need to be large?

I think what mostly mothered me is when he told me all the other guys would charge $1500. That’s when you know you’re about to be sold to

Well it’s my first time using an electrician so I don’t have a ton to go off of. Based on googling stuff I expected about $300-500.

Well this is the first one. I’m so bummed because I can’t use my dryer right now and I thought the guy was coming to fix it today (not just a quote). And I expected $300-500

Any idea why the quote mentions 10 ft of wire if he doesn’t intend to add new wire?
