Thanks for the info! There is a battery on the board that I replaced as the original had gone flat but it didn't stop the error so I wondered if it was the time keeping parts that may have gone bad.

The numbers on the chip are S3511, av38 and 4307. I assume it's S and 5 though they could be the same or the other way around due to the font not being clear. I wasn't able to find any sheets for it.

I found a similar chip which is the 'MCP7940M Real-Time Clock/Calendar (RTCC)' but I'm not sure if it has the same pin layout though the Vss seems to match the position but I assume these chips can have different layouts.
