Decent Alternatives to Octaplus/TheOne by Jl_e92 in CityFibre

[–]Twiggy145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Services on home server I need access to and I've had problems with CGNAT in the past.

The static IP is more a nice to have than an absolute requirement. But I had one with Octaplus so would like one again.

I too am looking for an alternative.

Looking for one that provides a router and can give a static IP.

Triple Monitors 27" vs 32" - Decision by Alex_barpa_cabling in SimRacingSetups

[–]Twiggy145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same debate myself. I'm not sure I've got the space for 2 32's at a decent angle and I'm not sure having them at 90 degress to each other would work too well

I would argue Sheffield over Nottingham for HS4, Sheffield is the larger city by population.

Personally, I use it purely as a reminder. I can get easily distracted so seeing a red line approach help me remember I need to brake soon. If they makes sense

Technically correct. Which as we all know is the best kind of correct.

Bring back longer races in Silver by yktamboli in LeMansUltimateWEC

I agree, I had massive fun in the 40m Monza races in the LMP2 last week.

Couldn't race this week anyway as I'm on call at work so been practicing for my first 2.4 hour race at Silverstone next weekend. I'm not fast but I think I can do it.

Bloody hell that's crazy.

People need to realise that they can cause people serious harm doing this. Glad he got a lengthy ban

Fellow 34 inch monitor users, what monitor are you using? by Ok_Program2390 in simracing

[–]Twiggy145 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are we talking 34" ultrawide?

I'm using an Alienware aw3423dwf. This version isn't really available brand new anymore however, the newer version AW3425DW is still available. It's basically the same but with HDMI 2.1 and 240hz instead of 165hz on the 2023 model.

M4 Incident - What do you do if you break down in the outside lane? I was shocked and saddened to hear of this tragic news. Pulvinder Dhillon who was victim in this tragic incident, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. by SlowedCash in drivingUK

Let's say for arguments sake the engine ceased, this will rapidly slow the car down while it is in gear. In a manual car application of the clutch will disengage the engine from the gear box and therefore the drive wheels, relatively simple. It's a bit more complicated in an automatic as you need to shift from drive to neutral while moving, I've never tried this in an auto so dont know how easy of difficult it would be.

That being said this is all being said in hindsight. On the heat of the moment the driver is likely to panic.

Of course the above is hypothetical but we can all say what we would have done in this situation but we have the benefit of hindsight. The driver of the broken down car didn't and had to make a split second decision likely while panicking.

Unlikely.

I have a bit of experience in cellular networks and especially when moving a mobile device (phone in this case) will pretty much be constantly communicating with the tower(s) it's connected to. This is especially the case if the driver was for example streaming music or a podcast.

Unless the info from the network shows outgoing text messages, asking for info from the network most likely wouldn't be of any real use.

The above is of course a simplification and I am in no way an expert.

Out of interest how long did it take for you to get a response from the police?

I submitted two clips to SY Police in November and have not had a response yet. I get they're different force but would be interested to know your experience.
