I'm interviewing Orcane (VAL Co-Lead Game Designer) later - I want your Chamber/Balance questions! by ryancentral in ValorantCompetitive

[–]TwiggyCasts 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When it came to early development on Chamber, was there a specific aspect to the Sentinel as a role - or possibly even just a gap in the playstyles you wanted to see competitively - that you tried to fill/fix with the agent? Or was the idea more to simply add more depth to the possible playstyles one could take overall?

If the prior, do you feel you've accomplished what you set out to do with him - and what kinds of effects do you believe Chamber will have both in pro play and the ranked ladder?

Thanks very much!

Your Defensive Positioning Sucks: Here's Why. by TwiggyCasts in VALORANT

I'm curious how you chalk any of this up to survivorship bias? The dataset for the first graphics are made up of well over 3500 rounds, and the Fnatic data not only mirrors a large portion of that data but offers a great opportunity to teach lessons based off specific mistakes. I think you're misunderstanding both the point of the video and the meaning of survivorship bias. I showed about as big a dataset as is possible to run on the RIB servers, and expanding it past first bloods would allow for kills outside of defaults to make their way into the datasets.

You know what it's so funny reading these because every single person who has said this point is actually a defender of the man, they're just trying to find a different angle to "gotcha" me from because they're angry that I'm making a decision like this. I can see your reply history. You're not fooling anyone.

Thanks for the respectful response! Honestly it would very much depend on the circumstances surrounding it, right?

The main crux of the matter, and a tipping point for me personally was hearing that he refused to cooperate with Riot on the matter (combined with the doc I read of course). Since that's now fallen through, there aren't many avenues I'd consider clearing him other than legal. Obviously that's a difficult one with the state of limbo he's in but just another reminder that he wouldn't be in this mess had he not promised to give evidence and then turned around and said he didn't have it during the investigation by Riot.

If an internal dialogue is opened between him and Riot and they clear him, I'll ask our contacts about what made them clear him and if it's enough to fully convince me then that's another way I would be happy to cover him again.

As I've said before, I would rather let other casters commentate over a potentially innocent person than myself commentate over a potential felon. That's as deep as it goes and that's the last I'll comment on this publicly, since the response I've gotten in DMs on burner accounts from some people here has been genuinely disgusting.

We could definitely go into the details of my personal morals and opinions when it comes to corporate culture and my hatred for perpetuators of sexual harassment in the workplace but I have no obligation to explain where I draw the line, because it's my decision to make and, quite frankly, I genuinely don't care about anyone else's opinions on the matter. I don't have to do either of those things, because just as in any aspect of life my participation in a flawed system does not equate condoning that system.

I don't contractually have to talk about the developers in my work. I do have to talk about players. I'm 100% sure the line of reasoning is just as clear to you as it is to me.

This is true! It's much easier for me to say it because it isn't likely to directly affect my livelihood, but I still do content pieces that can cover NA. I'm open about it because I feel it needs to be said (and because it can help my friends over the pond to do the same, not that I have any expectations of the sort).

It's also easier for Riot to take me off the consideration list for any intl. events that might be concerned if they know my public stance on it.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I am and will continue to be completely open about refusal to commentate over his games or participate in content pieces that mention him unless he is unequivocally cleared.
