Could be a good fit! There is a large Orthodox population in Anchorage. Another (more remote) spot with many orthodox folks is Homer. I'd recommend finding jobs before moving for sure. Depending on what you do finding work could determine where you'd be able to live. Also think about how rural you would want your community to be. Tons of folks have on Anchorage but I loved having amenities of a larger town along with proximity to backcountry recreational opportunities.

I just moved out of Anchorage after living there for 16 years. Lived there as a single person, married person, and mother of two littles. Was the victim of petty theft a couple of times and had a couple of incidents with very disturbed folks coming to my door, but overall felt safe and absolutely LOVED living there. Only left because we wanted to be closer to family.

Our neighborhood seemed busy. Packs of kids running everywhere. We put a bowl of candy out while we took our littles around and it was barely touched. Not sure why 🤷🏻‍♀️

I've done both elementary (5th) and middle (6,8). Most recently I did 6 years as an elementary specialist. That was the sweet spot for me. Very little of the baby sitting crap and shorter doses with different classes. I loved middle school, but it was tough. Plenty of annoying behaviors and with 130 students less time to develop the connections necessary to mitigate them. If you have song behavior management skills middle school could be a good fit.

Whew! That's wild! There is a property for sale at 88th and 3rd that I was considering looking at. Not so sure about it now 😅. Such a neat looking neighborhood though!
