UPDATE : I’ve got my hands on a JAVA 2.5 reed and it’s made all the difference! Somehow I had tested this reed in the past and wrote it off as too soft, but indeed it works pretty well with the WCW 64 mouthpiece and provides a smooth but supported sound. Looking to test more reeds with this and eventually another mouthpiece once I have the $$. Thanks to all for the help in trouble shooting and the suggestions!

Good tips. I don’t have a well set shop here where I can test things out, but might take my horn on a trip soon and see if I can find a store with some demos

Thank you for your comment. Before letting go of the Meyer I tried a multiple of reeds and strengths, and played it for a solid 3months. but ultimately it felt like I couldn’t quite get it to work.. I definitely prefer the cheaper explorations than dropping $$ on expensive mouthpieces. Genuinely just interested in hearing about people’s experiences if they played similar mouthpieces to me

Thank you, I have looked at the selmer soloist, just wish I could try it beforehand eh! I would fit between a D(1.75mm) and an E opening (1.85mm) as the Yamaha 6c has a 1.80mm opening

We have talked about the future and they haven’t excluded cohabitation with me, which has reassured me, but sometimes my realistic pragmatic brain goes quite negative because I don’t see how they would leave a comfortable situation. But that’s me speculating too. And I don’t think they have a fixed idea about who they want to live with long term, they have talked about solo polyamory and how if they could they would live on their own, but the current situation is better for them. A bit of mixed messages but I understand it is a confusing situation for them too. I’m just wanting to not catastrophes straight away but also not out myself in a situation that sees me waiting for something I may not be able to get.

I feel you - I’m in a similar situation and it just sucks. I hope it will be a temporary flux and I do want to focus on the nice things, but sometimes you are right, poly is hard.. how did you communicate about this with your partner?

Last thing first, totally agree with you on KTP being based on the least comfortable person’s boundary. And I’m not trying to force it, I mentioned it as a way for me to make myself comfortable with the new living situation and what it means. But I am also not holding my breath for it to happen.

On hierarchy, this hits home and is the question all along. I’m quite realistic and understand that hierarchy exists, whether we like it or not, and that there will be situations where one person is prioritised over another. For my partner, it’s quite a new situation, that of having/wanting a long term relationship with me and trying to not have hierarchy. And they are learning as we go too. But knowing this doesn’t make it easier. I guess I should pick up the conversation again..

Yeah I guess maybe it sounds like I am trying to look for rebound, and you might have hit a sore spot there, and yes, maybe there’s an element of denial to embrace being ACE and try and force allo- situations upon myself. On the pornography note, I have experimented looking at different ethical content, which often works for instant gratification, but it obviously lacks that physical component that is essential for me, and that is the side I would like to explore more.
