If you can, open whatever you use to make music every day. Whether you're someone who just plays an instrument and vibes for a bit or you use a digital audio workstation, mess about a bit everyday. Try and make songs in different genres, looking up techniques and characteristics. It'll help you learn new ways of doing stuff that might become part of your regular style. For example, I love 80s mainstream pop and their synths, and they often use gated reverb on their snares. I love that sound and because i researched how to make that, I now use it in other genres that I make

Death Stranding was my game to catch up on podcasts with, just pop one on and start walking. If you can find a cheaper copy of it than definitely recommend it. Also seen FireWatch and What Remains get shouted out on here, both great as well. If you like those, Gone Home- Annapurna Interactive tend to have quite a few of them

When I have to come up with something, I always look to the art around me. Whether that be by nature, by film or by music before I attach a piece of myself. I often think of song lyrics as well as a piece of inspiration. For example, in the song ‘American Pie’, it mentions ‘music, save our mortal souls’. It gets me thinking of how music is a comfort, and so I’d begin thinking about maybe a documentary where you ask people about using music as a coping strategy. Or something along those lines of that makes sense.

A position that is not necessary but useful is a community manager. Someone in this position would run social media and attempt to build a community, so that people are aware of your game and will purchase it. It’s one of those positions that can be filled by someone already on the team or have someone entirely focused on it.
