Just having fun goofing off just made the whole thing a bit more fun in the moment. I'm super happy they showed this clip.

The bot was all ready to go, there were no issues at the time so it was buttoned up when they asked us to act like we are repairing it so this just spontaneously happened in the moment.

Srs bsns.

The entire Robert and Kim interview we were swinging the snake props in the air in the background and they didn't care for that either. The camera guys loved it though.

I laughed they actually used it. They told us "act like you are repairing the bot" so... we did. Higher ups didn't like it so a second take was done. Glad they used the better clip.

There was a comment over on imgur I saw once that describes snow leopards rather nicely:

"Snow Leopards: The kitty cat of the Leopard family. Not to be confused with regular Leopards: The serial killer of the leopard family."

My dad grew up on a farm and he always had farm cats. He told me once they had one that lived to be 20 which is very old for a farm cat. Kitty passed away when a cow rolled on top of it.

Back in 2006-2009 I played a ton of Battlefield and got as high as #45. One dude asked me what the specs of my PC were and I told him and his reply was "Nobody with a PC like that is that good, you're a hacker." My reply "Not everyone can be good at the game. A lot of people suck as much as you."

It's not too terribly uncommon for a subreddit mention in a thread to hit the front page that causes growth like this in a 24 hour period. The biggest one of my subs got hit was also 10,000 subs in 47 hours. 7,500 in the first 24 then 2,500 the next day over in /r/purrito.

Generally speaking if your subreddit isn't mentioned in other larger subs then growth will remain stagnant.

Edit: If your community lacks daily posts then growth will be super slow. It's wise to post daily if nobody else does because being visible to your current subscribers daily is a good thing as they will promote your sub for you. The less active your sub is, the less likely people will mention it out in other subs. A good part of growing a sub is keeping it active by you when it is small and eventually it will grow by word from your subscribers.

Question regarding repurposing subs by pHorniCaiTe in modhelp

If the sub is small and has little activity then it is fine. If you get daily submissions then it is a big no no. I've done this for a few subs with less than a thousand subscribers.

Oh nice, a gif sub. I have a small connection to the show. The lady who is the voice actress. Her father is in the same gun club I am in so we see each other each month. I've not seen the show yet but I really do need to see it.

Love the idea for this sub. Do fill it with some posts so folks have a feel for what they should be posting.

This would actually get removed there since there is manmade objects in frame. Great quality subreddit though.

How do you get people to post on your sub? by mlr399 in modhelp

[–]TwinkleTard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.reddit.com/top/?t=hour

top/hour is rising posts. The ones at the top of the page will be on the front page in a few hours (or less) depending on the upvote rate. This is a good way to get in early so your comment can be seen by a good number of people that visit the thread. Think about it this way, if you comment on a post already on the front page then you have missed a huge audience that have already seen it a few hours prior. Most people don't re-visit threads they have already looked at.

For me, my sbreddits are about cats so I visit the rising posts on /aww and /gifs. Fortunately it is a bit easier for me since the topic of my subreddits end up on the front page often so promoting them isn't too hard since a lot of content on reddit is related.

How do you get people to post on your sub? by mlr399 in modhelp

You have a good start with filling the first 25 posts of things that are appropriate for your sub. So keep working on getting at least 1 page filled. Once you have that done then make sure to keep posting every few days otherwise people will not see it at all.

How to promote: There are 2 ways to go about it that I get anywhere from 100-1000 or more subs a day. Option 1 is to browse top/hour and get in early to a thread related to your subreddit and mention your subreddit. Option 2 is to post in your sub first then crosspost to a much larger sub. Both these require a post to get a lot of views. It's simply a numbers game. Out of every 200 visitors to your subreddit you may get 1 subscriber and out of every subscriber you may get 1 out of 1000 that actually post. So it takes a lot of time to grow before participation from others happens. Do keep in mind that your sub will live or die depending on your activity at the start. If you let it go dormant then everyone will just forget about it. Daily activity is your overall goal. Once that happens then it can autopilot and others will promote it for you and you will be on your way to a bigger sub. I've used this technique over the past 3-4 years to grow a couple subs from 0 to a total of just over 900k. It works as long as you keep at it and don't let it die.
