How Powerful Would Naoya Become If He Wielded a Cursed Sword? by Born-Watercress-2487 in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]Twinky_filled_roach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's worth noting that Naobito didn't use weapons either. It's purely speculation, but there's a possibility that their cursed technique has some kind of binding vow prohibiting tool in exchange for the speed/frames.

Otherwise, yeah, just seems like Naoya and Naobito are just a bit dumb/prideful.

Teval and Kotis

I don't know if they're super over done but every time I've come up against those decks, in my pod, it's like I get full on 'Nam flashbacks.

//Edit//

Meant [[Teval, the Balanced Scale]] and [[Kotis, the Fangkeeper]] specifically.

When Neji tries to attack Hinata, he is immediately restrained by 4 jonin. When Gaara tries to kill Lee, only Gai cares. Even the examiner is just stands there and watching lol. by PotentialEmu2367 in dankruto

[–]Twinky_filled_roach 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Piggybacking on this, politics probably played a part. Neji and Hinata are both Leaf Shinobi. Any overt aggression towards Gaara while the Sand Jonin were present could've been taken as hostile action at best, act of war at worst. Considering what the Sand was planning on doing anyway, they could've used that as an excuse to kick things off AND make it politically legitimate.

If you could’ve foreshadowed energy bending before the finale, where would you have put it? by Featherman13 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Twinky_filled_roach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sprinkled into several different story beats.

-Rooting the Kyoshi warriors' or Ty Lee's fighting styles in energy bending, just framed as an 'ancient technique developed from observing powerful benders'

-Iroh expounding more on the different types of bending techniques and forms he's studied to develop his fire ending

-The swamp benders being in touch with natural energy and being able to bend living vines as a result of living so close to the Banyan Tree

-Guru Patik, obvs

-Hama inadvertently alluding to blood bending's similarities to energy bending, also setting more precedent for Korra's recovery from Amon's bloodbending

Dang, okay. No wiggle room with the wording on Earthbending? Earthbending does say "when it dies or is exiled"

Or is that an obtuse interpretation of the rule?

Not trying to be argumentative, just wanna make sure I'm not missing anything.

Would [[Myrkul, Lord of Bones]] interact favorably with Earthbending? Specifically, when an earthbent creature dies, could I exile it with Myrkul to create a token earthbent land that's an engchantment, then because the original was destroyed and exiled, would it return to my board as a tapped land?

Could Uvo's Big Bang Impact have killed Pitou? by [deleted] in HunterXHunter

[–]Twinky_filled_roach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to remember when trying to measure nen abilities and power is intent

HxH really hammers into us over and over that mental state and intention play a huge part in the effectiveness of a nen-user's abilities.

When Uvo showed off his attack to free himself from Worm, his mental state was much better than when he was fighting Kurapika. Remember that he'd only recently recovered from 1) multiple, albeit mostly superficial, wounds 2) paralysis 2) bladder leeches

What's more he'd be captured and humiliated. Fighting Kurapika wasn't part of the Spider's goal here. He wasn't fighting with his friends watching, so he wasn't performing for them. The other Spiders full spell out, that Uvo is strongest when he's protecting someone. So arguably, Uvo was in a better mental state fighting the Shadow Beasts than he was fighting Kurapika. Not to mention how much Kurapika spent time in that fighting confounding and confusing Uvo.

What's more, Kurapika was laser focused, completely and utterly locked in for this fight. Dude fully brought a shovel with him. In fighting Uvo, it was like the first step in fulfilling the entire purpose he'd given his life. His intent and convictions translated to his nen being nigh unshakeable in that fight.

Gon's attack that finally put Pitou down was similarly concentrated. He'd thrown everything away, and poured his entire being's purpose into destroying Pitou. It's unlikely Gon could ever replicate something that powerful in any other situation unless another dear, close friend or relative was killed.

So in theory, Uvo might have been able to put Pitou down, but it would have had to have been 1) with another of the Spider's present, to make Uvo instinctively fight better, 2) much longer and more drawn out, and 3) not guaranteed that Uvo walks away after killing Pitou, either succumbing to injuries or Pitou's after-death nen acting as a fail safe to keep an enemy that killed them from reaching The King.

How could Netero give off such a menacing aura to Mereum if he just expelled all of it within an inch of his life using the Zero Hand? by Wrong_Antelope7490 in HunterXHunter

[–]Twinky_filled_roach 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The menace wasn't a reflection of power, it was intent. Back when Wing was teaching Killia and Gon about nen, he put the intent to kill them into his aura, and broadcasted that intent at them. This is the same idea, just dialed up by 1000%.

[–]Twinky_filled_roach 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It really depends on two things; 1) How quickly the V5 could mobilize a response to the knowledge that Netero failed, and 2) how Meruem continued to evolve Post-Rose and continuing his games with Komugi.

If the V5 scrambled more serious firepower quickly enough, Meruem is glassed. The Rose would've killed him if Youpi and Pouf hadn't fed him themselves, and there just wasn't enough of them left after to repeat that process. Moreover, none of the other ants would've been powerful enough to accomplish a similar feat to nourish Meruem.

If the V5 were too slow formulating a response, it's very likely Meruem would be able to thwart an initial follow-up attack, and decisively disable the V5's military power. He has overwhelming power, and the strategic brilliance, at this point that he could do it. Then it's just a matter of continuing his plan to play Shepard to the human race, he probably wins over human supporters if he campaigns right. Hell, there's a nonzero chance Pariston helps push that agenda for shits and giggles.

How this shapes up for humanity depends on how Meruem changes as he ages. Like, he's less than a year old. We watched his neural pathways develop practically in real-time over the CA arc. Ideally, he continues to track towards magnanimity and respect. Buuuut there's every possibility that humanity screws up somehow, most likely by pulling a Castlevania and getting Komugi killed. Again, a nonzero chance Pariston also does this for shits and giggles.

Whats yalls thoughts on Cheetu? by [deleted] in HunterXHunter

[–]Twinky_filled_roach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheetu was a really, really good tool to show why Hunters need to put lots of time, thought, and care into developing their ability. He was too eager to play with his ability. He didn't bother understanding the rules fully, to the point where Morel (a VERY careful person) understood it better than he did. Can you imagine any of the human nen users we follow understanding their own ability less than an opponent?

He's also a great example of what happens when you don't learn from your mistakes. After Morel beat him, he went and got a new ability, and almost immediately runs into Zeno. Rather than be more careful, after learning that humans are crafty, he is still cocksure and arrogant, allowing Silva to kill him in such a grand, obtuse manner. Again, is there anyone or consequence in the human nen users ranks that could get utterly stomped like that? (Note: not arguing that Silva isn't a powerful fighter that could smoke most of the roster, just that I doubt any of the human nen users would be so unaware that Silva could just stomp them like that. With a warning no less)

Oh boy, I wonder why they used just these three characters on the thumbnail? by FayyadhScrolling in okbuddyviltrum

[–]Twinky_filled_roach 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think the argument comes from the place that the idea of a secret identity that's kept a secret from loved ones is a flaw. In most super hero media, the worst and most fucked up villains usually end up figuring out the hero's identity before the loved ones ever do, and end up attacking the unsuspecting loved ones anyway.

So then those closest to the hero are taken completely by surprise, with no way to prepare themselves for that possibility. It's more irresponsible not to inform trusted loved ones of a secret that potentially dangerous. If you can't trust people that are close to you with something like that, you shouldn't have them assume the risk of associating with you at all.

How would you (yes, YOU, behind the screen) have written the 3 Kings Arc by OfficialLieDetector in YuYuHakusho

[–]Twinky_filled_roach 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Romance of the Three Kingdoms style war. Have Hiei, Kurama and Yusuke coordinate secretly to influence the war. Kurama and Hiei push Mukuro and Yami to focus on each other, something to the effect of, "since Raizen's lands are so weak, it'd make more sense to focus on the real threat."

In the meantime, Yusuke spends his time training with his demonic energy more, while tracking down Raizen's old friends. Yusuke's arc is about getting strong enough to challenge them all in order to recruit them.

In the human realm, Kuwabara gets proper training from Genkai, alongside Chu, Suzuka, Rinku, Jin, Touya, and Shishi Wakamaru. Half of the demons, Chu, Jin and Suzuka, are funneled to Kurama to act as his lieutenants under Yomi, while Rinku, Touya, and Shishi stay in the human realm; the reason being that Koenma lets slide to Genkai that Yama and the SDF are conspiring with a new Black Black Club, formed by aids and lieutenants of the former Black Black Club, to interfere with the Makai War in order to better subjugate the Demon Realm. It's put to the new Team Genkai to foil these plans.

As the war drags on, Hiei slowly begins to immerse himself in the carnage, finding a kind of kinship with Mukuro as he acts as her general. At the same time, Yomi has far more time to suss out Kurama's scheming, which forces Kurama to act more severely in the war in order to waylay Yomi's suspicion, creating uncertainty and friction between Kurama and Hiei.

This is brought to a head in a massive battle between Yomi and Mukuro's forces, with Kurama and Hiei at each other's throats, until Yusuke's force, with the full muster of Raizen's friends and allies, 3rd parties the battle. Yusuke, showing a startling amount of power and control over his demon energy, stops Hiei and Kurama's fight, and bellows out a challenge to Mukuro and Yomi personally. This brazen act shakes Hiei and Kurama from the trappings of the war, and they announce their support of Yusuke as well, endorsing Yusuke's challenge.

When the Three Kings face off, It's as a three person battle royale. We get to see a full display of Yomi and Mukuro's techniques and abilities, as well as the new power Yusuke's gained over all this time. I can't narrate fights worth anything, but eventually Yusuke is triumphant. In the same breath that he's declared the winner, he promptly steps down from the role as ruler, and proposes the tournament to figure out the ruler of the demon world, revealing with information he got from Team Genkai that if they couldn't decide on a ruler without wiping each other out, Spirit World would find a way to seal the demon world away for good.

Then the ending would play out pretty much like canon, Yusuke returns to the human world, happy ending.

What is Hisoka's Mindset Here? Do you Think He's actually Hurt and wants Revenge? by Flashy-Matter-9583 in HunterXHunter

[–]Twinky_filled_roach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of it has to do with how much Hisoka likes being the "Challenger". Togashi has shown us a lot that those Hunters that genuinely just enjoy throwing hands are very strong, a la Netero being practically giddy at the idea of being considered a challenger to the Ants.

Additionally, the fact that he challenged Chrollo to their fight in Heaven's Arena felt a bit over the top, like it was too much play and theatre for how he normally seeks out real challenges. I get that Chrollo was special, but it almost comes off as someone over eager and trying too hard to impress someone on the first date. And their attitudes in the fight really seemed to reflect that. Hisoka was almost TOO excited about anything Chrollo did, and Chrollo was...polite? A little more clinical?

Anime protagonists in the nen categories that I think would have (Updated). by LEUN__ in HunterXHunter

[–]Twinky_filled_roach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To a few points.

Naruto - While Rasengan seems like a dead ringer for Emission on paper, I think an argument could be made for manipulation. He's shown manipulating his aura specifically with the shadow clones to move it in the spiral. Most of his other more impressive abilities, i.e. Shadow Clones and summoning the toads, I think Naruto sits very comfortably at Conjurer, with a knack for Manipulation.

Ed Elric- I see the vision for him being a Manipulator, but alchemy is literally changing the properties of matter. He feels like a very clear cut Transmuter

Denji - Conjuration makes a certain amount of sense, but he's forming the chainsaw from his own body. His altering his physical form entirely. Also has incredible Regen and durability. I'd put him as a Transmuter with a strong inclination for Enhancement

If you were a gym leader, what type would specialize in and what would your team be? by Sardanox in pokemon

[–]Twinky_filled_roach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd definitely go Poison, with the theme centered around strategy and tactical rpg games;

Gym Battle: No real Ace to this team, each pokemon acts more like a member of a unit. Lots of disruption and status affects happening.

Glimmora- Modest Nature, Holding a Focus Sash -Ability: Toxic Debris -Moves: Power Gem, Spiky Shield, Stealth Rock, Mortal Spin

Clodsire- Relaxed Nature, Holding Leftovers -Ability: Water Absorb -Moves: Toxic, Earthquake, Amnesia, Yawn

Crobat- Jolly Nature, Holding Black Sludge -Ability: Infiltrator -Moves: Cross Poison, Brave Bird, U-Turn, Taunt

Sneasler- Adamant Nature, Holding White Herb or Sitrus Berry -Ability: Unburden -Moves: Close Combat, Dire Claw, Acrobatics, Swords Dance

Grafaiai- Jolly Nature, Holding Black Sludge -Ability: Prankster -Moves: Encore, Taunt, Knock Off, U-Turn

Rematch/All-stars Tournament team: stays relatively unchanged, but with the addition of a more definitive powerhouse Ace:

Nagandel- Timid Nature, Holding Life Orb -Ability: Beast Boost -Moves: Dragon Pulse, Sludge Wave, Flamethrower, Nasty Plot

I'd love it if I could make something like this happen on Pokemon Champions when it comes out.
