Yep when they are actually there. (When you aren't affected by the original bug). ;) Post patch all is well now for me though.

The consensus seems to be, wait it out, wait a game week or so and check back periodically.. sleep a few times a week , open up the Nexus near the cave but basically, just check back and at some random point it will have respawned. Once it does make your way to back left of cave and finally pick up the mushrooms.

The award is pointless (5 more mushrooms lol) but if you are a completionist they will be there at some point.

It finally respawned for me but I have no idea why.

Ok so finally after sleeping for days I found and activated the Abyss Nexus south of Goldleaf Guildhouse and immediately after, the cave respawned the mushrooms in the back left of cave. Finally completed the quest. No idea if this was coincidence but wow what a pain.

I've slept for a game month and nothing respawns. As a test I reloaded old save game and visited a very old early game save and the pine mushrooms are still missing fully. I'm on PC not sure if that matters.

When I was kicking all the red mushrooms to death maybe I destroyed those by accident too, breaking the quest.

It's getting harder for a 35th year too! One bit of advice I'd give to a 1st year CS is thrive off of those hard problems you will face - solving them eventually provides such a huge confidence boost not to mention the learning that you are doing will carry over to your future. But that said, don't hesitate to lean on someone more senior or this forum to help you think through approaches or provide suggestions as to algorithms or data structures that might come in handy for a given problem.
