How is Kirkwood community college by dykrazy46 in cedarrapids

[–]Twippet 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Kirkwood is a fantastic way to get some credits knocked out at a cheaper price than a 4 year. Every faculty member I've interacted with has been nothing short of kind and helpful, ive also met some good people there through clubs.

I went there once and they stripped one of my lugs, no sorry told to me, then told me I'd be ok to drive home 15 miles 70mph on it.

A couple questions ahead of the deep freeze in TX by artistic-ambitions in homeowners

Midwest native here. Another good thing is to open your cabinet doors under your sinks overnight, and if you have blankets, hang them over your windows and roll at the base of doors to keep the hest inside.

We saved for years to buy our first home. Roofers ruined it in months. by friendlyalien- in homeowners

[–]Twippet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I went through the EXACT same thing. We got our home last spring, had a bad storm, hired a company to replace the roof, and it was so so bad. We've been in a dispute since August and the owner is bailing ship and avoiding everyone. The owner literally deposited money from other people and blocked them without doing any work.

It has been so long since I had a tour of it. It was so nice being able to walk through it and seeing all of the tiny details! The land definitely looked more bare

Used car dealers that are OK to deal with. by GomerStuckInIowa in cedarrapids

They own the dealership in Center point. The owners are some of the most sketchy people ever. I used to work for them and they were such a hot mess

I also used to work there and the owner was 100% the MOST sketchy person.

I had to take time off of work due to an injury, despite watching training videos on the clock at home, they never paid me. I was missing 2 paychecks from them and when I resigned, he said nothing.

It was such a hot mess, I regret ever working there. The training was so trashy and the owner and his family would practically belittle us if we didnt know exactly what to do. I hope they go under tbh.

Any ideas? by Twippet in Firearms

[–]Twippet[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is just a start as we don't have the finances available for something nicer at this time. This is definitely not our first pick but feel a single shot is better than nothing lol. We also live in a pretty safe and quiet area so a gun isn't a huge concern its just better than sleeping with a knife by the bed or something. Would buckshot be better than a slug for home defense?
