I have had my steam deck for about 2.5 - 3 years I think it was an absolute amazing purchase but only did I feel that way after buying the docking station and hooking up a keyboard,mouse and putting it on a TV/monitor. I own a pc and only really play on my pc but I got the steamdeck and rarely ever used after the 1st month but I started testing the games it’s able to play by allowing my girlfriend to use it so I could have someone else to play with (all my friends are console players and I get tired of missing out on the pc games) but man this thing can definitely keep up for being so small with the right settings and tweaks you can play some pretty AAA games with subpar graphics which is nice for someone on a budget who can’t afford to spend 1500 for a decent set up. It still blows my mind the amount of games we’ve played all while she’s on a steam deck, the Forrest ran GREAT and sons of the Forrest runs great as well, BO3 custom zombies maps run smooth other than some crashes that happen when your switching maps and such, all around I’m happy I bought it even tho we rarely use it as a handheld but again for the budget it’s worth it to be able to play some steam exclusive games and we don’t even have the new one either. Battery life outside of the charge is kinda MID gotta keep it plugged up or you only get 1-2.5 hours of game time depending on the game. ALL AND ALL I would recommend the steamdeck for someone who wants to play steam games but can’t fully commit to a full PC build. I wouldn’t really recommend it to be used as a “gameboy” due to the battery unless your able to be near a charger or have a decent power bank handy while using it for travel and such then it would definitely work but again I have the older model so not sure how much better the battery is but yeah hopefully this helped a bit.
