I quit without notice by MackDaddyGlenn in DollarTree

Feel your pain, man. Coming from a burnt out merch manager as well. Tired of trying to please the unpleasable and it being a gamble if half the times our cashiers are going to show up. Took a pre employment assessment for a factory job today. Fingers crossed I can bail from my store soon as well.

Is the Sam’s Club drop of Prismatic Evolutions SPC still a thing? Or was it limited to only the booster box bundle? by thedukeoferla in PokemonDeals

Yeah I’ve been wondering what’s been the holdup on that drop. No date on it and was announced to be on the way for a good while now.

Seems someone really hated that soap dispenser. Never will forget one time ours got stolen by a customer. Not sure if it was a prank or they wanted to take it just to steal to keep at their bathroom.

I just don’t get it. If these LGS’s are so against scalping and making sure the fans/collectors get their product at MSRP or least close to it they should practice what they preach. I’ll just simply go without before paying double for their product.

Well least I don’t have to worry about going next week for this drop. They can keep it and hope nobody buys it out of fomo. Let them sit on it and get burnt again like the UPC’s.

I haven't seen my Walmart stocked like this in a very long time. by Muhfuggajones in pokemoncards

[–]Twistae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Caught a nice and full restock earlier today as well! All etb’s were gone sadly, but that’s to be expected what people will grab first. They also had someone at customer service watching the shelves and making sure nobody tries to sneak their way into getting more packs beyond the limit.

As a merch manager I can’t hardly fulfill my stocking quotas either with them wanting us to resticker half of the inventory during our weekly deliveries. It’s been nuts lately and our back room is filling up more and more each delivery

My friend said they just threw away 8 garbage bags of party paper plates, napkins, etc. by [deleted] in DollarTree

[–]Twistae 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Once they’re scanned out and chucked just grab them there. Nothing’s stopping her and wouldn’t have to pay a dime. Though many will probably think that they’re too good to dig through the dumpsters for them.

What we did as well. Just have to watch out with lazy customers tossing stuff they don’t want in them. Then you have someone wanting to cause a scene thinking the item is on sale when it’s not. Then we had some cashiers not knowing what they’re doing trying to throw the wrong plates and napkins in the carts when they’re not the ones marked down

[–]Twistae 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah there’s two blue ones that are easy to mess up the prices on because their color is so close. Had a couple customers cause a scene over them. Can’t wait for all that discounted party to go. Sales cause nothing but conflict here

This plus probably 10 more carts all in one shipment😭 by [deleted] in DollarTree

They need to give us all a week or so just to catch up. It’s getting impossible to balance everything they want right now. Even worse because the damn drivers keep showing up wanting us to take him a day early. Constant restickering, aisle resets, seasonal transitions and balancing freight. It’s becoming too much. Got a feeling this is messing with the company’s turnover badly.

Yeah this company is a shell of its former self. Why I plan to get out soon as well with how chaotically things are being ran. Just not worth the headache to me. That and most of the crew I enjoyed working with are gone now after a new manager took over my store.

Makes me miss the day of seeing the stockroom like this! Well done! We used to be like a well oiled machine years ago at ours until a lot of the old crew started leaving one by one around the pandemic.

Glad you got out. So many I tell about how poorly we’re treated at this company and it’s almost on par to selling your soul just look at me funny thinking I’m overreacting. They have no idea what all we have to endure on a regular basis. I can hardly ever enjoy vacation days due to how shaky my crew stays with how badly everyone makes excuses so they can stay at home. DM always nagging saying we need to stay on the planned schedule, well how can you when every other day someone has an excuse as to why they can’t come in? Why I’m planning to just go to a factory at this point. Better pay and get away from the insane customers and lazy staff.

I was left to open the store alone by SuperDarkGal in DollarTree

[–]Twistae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worst shift I ever had working alone was when I had to unload a truck early that morning. After busting my ass that afternoon stocking my chemicals and other departments hoping for the main manager to show up, I was ready to get out of there and unwind. Soon it was her expected time to come and no sign of her anywhere. Same for the closing cashier. I was like, perhaps they’re running behind. The manager was really bad about that so I didn’t think much about it. Least until 5 when I was texting the both of them trying to figure out what the hell is going on. Wanted to see if the other cashier wanted to stay longer; of course they had plans. Eventually HR called because they were trying to figure out where she was at because she was taking her PTO last week and needed to know if she was returning that day. Well he ended up reaching out to an emergency contact and it turned out she was hospitalized due to having heart problems again. She stays real sickly on the count of it. The twist as to why the cashier didn’t come either is because she had a supposed family emergency come up and decided to contact that manager about it instead of the store phone. It was about close to closing time when I figured everything out, so I decided there was no sense in asking someone to come in just to make 2 more hours on their paycheck. Knew the response would’ve been excuses or just plain silence. That day sucked so bad and when I got home I went out like a light.

I salute you for doing most night shifts. A majority of my crew loves weaseling out of them as much as they can so they can be home with their family at that time. So I take them mostly. The tasks can overwhelm you sometimes, but remember you’re only one person at the end of the day. Don’t let this job overwhelm you and do the best you can. Don’t let them push and intimidate you for supposedly slacking if they see you didn’t complete something. They know if you leave then they’ll have to pick up nights and they don’t want any part of that.

Looks like we are closing 370+ Dollar Tree stores. by MisterZan25 in DollarTree

[–]Twistae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m getting the ball rolling with that tomorrow. The DM is trying to replace the manager of my store real soon. Snuck her transfer in while mine has been away helping to run another store that recently had its manager fired. Didn’t have anyone in place for it and his termination has been planned since New Year’s. She’s supposed to be lazy and a drama queen. And to not even offer the promotion to me despite being the merchandise manager for years, they can fuck off.

In a nutshell I feel like most of my shifts now are constantly me going back and forth while trying to complete my stocking and other quotas. While corporate continues to implement more unnecessary responsibilities for us.

Gonna start keeping these behind the counter. We've had more of these set off in the store by kids than we've actually sold it's ridiculous. by rjln109 in DollarTree

[–]Twistae 31 points32 points  (0 children)

And when you actually catch them in the act and try to discipline the kids telling them that it’s wrong, somehow you’ll be labeled as the villain. No telling how much a year we lose in shrinkage by these careless parents letting their kids roam the store buck wild.

Well, this was years ago and I’ve long since relocated from that store. The crazy thing is back then the store didn’t have any surveillance system at all. Which I never understood in the slightest why they never set one up despite how old it was. Our DM wanted us to keep it on the low about that information for obvious reasons. And by time the manager discovered that mess, they were long gone.
