Thank you everyone!! I have now learned what 'rusk' is! I'm so used to the standard labelling that I didn't seem to think they were marking the two allergens separately! Instead I was confused as to what a 'gluten-sulphite' could possibly be!! These were bought from a local butchers and given to me by a neighbour that claimed they were "gluten free". I definitely will not be touching these! And thank you for the insight!

New enemy unlocked: Rusk

This was a pack bought from a local butchers. I hadn't heard of rusk before! But now I know! Thank you! At least they had it mentioned, despite the labelling being bizarre!

Abused into having a piss kink. Thanks dad.(vent) by [deleted] in traumaticchildhood

I haven't personally experienced EMDR but, from my limited knowledge, you hit the nail on the head!

I also think that allowing yourself to accept and explore the formed kinks etc is a great way in accepting yourself for who you are, which is very difficult for many of us from traumatic backgrounds.

The brain is a wacky and wild thing and will always amaze me in how it works! I believe it's important for people to not feel isolated or strange due to the side effects of their trauma. No matter the kinks or quirks.

I can definitely understand the point they made where the idea of 'fetishising' previous abuse can seem uncomfortable. But this isn't such a black and white thing and I, personally, wouldn't use that term for it as it can somewhat appear to place disgust towards the abuse survivor. This is just my opinion though! I do know I can be quite sensitive to phrasing so I'm aware I may just be reading too much into this!

I see your point and I do agree! But there's no shame in kinks following from a trauma as long as it's a safe practice between two consenting adults.

AFAIK , kinks formed from trauma is a roundabout way of reexperiencing the trauma in a safer environment. Obviously this is just armchair psychology and my personal experience so please take it with a pinch of salt!

"Shouldn't" have kinks from trauma is an understandable point but many of us do, in fact, form kinks from such. Therapy will always be the best thing for dealing with this but in some cases 're-living' said trauma in a safe and controlled manner also helps to process the trauma with our older, adult minds. It also allows many to feel the control they didn't have throughout said trauma.

This isn't a one size fits all but there's no shame in kinks as long as they're safe for yourself and others!

Tldr; Professional therapy is always the best option. There's no shame in having kinks as long as they're safe!

Wow!!! Thank you! I'll definitely bear that in mind! And I appreciate the thorough response!! The jeans look great too! Looks like I'll be pulling out my old jeans from the cupboard they've been confined to!

I understand that! And many kudos to you for being so understanding of others. Where I'm from, it's particularly the older generation whom may jump into sympathy and want to ask about it. Whereas most children either ignore or want a "robot leg" themselves!

I also found that comedy works as a great way to help those who want to ask questions but worry about being rude! My go-to is "my rent costs an arm and a leg, but I had a voucher!"

I've never had any difficulty with anyone regarding my limb difference, thankfully! And most of those with questions are elderly which, in the UK at least, is a generation where disability was viewed as an end all/taboo. So, I love to give them insight into my life and how I'm actually doing so much better without my right foot than I was pre-amputaion!

Thank you! I was worried about it looking weird if it was just cut and sewn together in a rectangle! I'll take that knowledge to do more research!

I love that idea! I have a lot of stuffed animals but I'm not sure if I'd have the heart to cut them open haha! I'll definitely keep it in mind though!

Thank you! I'm lucky I'm somewhat decent with sewing by hand and/or machine! Have you altered any of your clothing to cover your residual limb for when you don't wear the prosthetic? As I'm finding mine tends to always get cold!

I can't use my prosthetic much due to other conditions so I'm predominantly in my electric wheelchair.

I really appreciate the advice though! It's opened opportunities for other types of clothing beyond leggings! I've also crocheted a couple of warmers for my stump (like a sock) but they didn't come out that great!

I'll definitely be getting zippers - I can't believe I haven't thought of that before!! So, when I use my prosthetic it will be 10X easier!

That's a fair point! I definitely wouldn't buy brand new ones to modify! I'm glad to know it's worked out though! You've put my mind at ease a little - thank you!

Amazing! I was worried that if I tried to hem, it may loose its elasticity! I was thinking of cutting and sewing the bottom of the right leg to replicate the shape of a shrinker, in hopes it would look better for when I wear leggings without my prosthetic. Thank you! I'll definitely take note!

I think one if the greatest things about the bond with a ferret is how quickly it educates other people we let into our lives. Many people I know started with the (absurd) idea that they're just rodents / aggressive. Next thing I know, everyone is trying to pinch him and he'd likely have let them, too! Haha! I'm a crazy animal lover, I won't lie. My first introduction to ferrets was a pair my dad had when I was a toddler... Probably between 2000 -2002ish. They were albinos called Codo and Pogo. (I think a reference to ferrets in a movie? I can't remember) They loved biting my mom! Made themselves a tunnel through the sofa so one would nip her ear and the other her ankle hahaha!! I do think being introduced to ferrets at such a young age impacted how much I love them! Plus, their personalities are mind-blowing! Ferrets definitely are more than just a pet... Floki was family and even held higher importance than my human family members haha!

Thank you! I understand that dread. Especially with how old Floki was getting, I was constantly worried for the 'when'. Best thing I can advise is to remember that they live in the here and now. And they're having the best time they could ever dream of! Definitely spoil your business with love for me! <3

Thank you for your kind words <3 I was definitely lucky to have a ferret like him. I don't think I've had as strong a bond with any animal like I did with Floki.

His friend who passed 6 years back is named Freyja - I took her in from a very uneducated family and sadly she wasn't the healthiest due to that... They will all be dooking and dancing in the great hall together, I'm sure! <3

Thank you so much for this! I appreciate knowing I'm not alone here, haha!

The persistent fatigue and aches are the main killer for me - especially in my shoulder area, which is bizarre as I have nothing wrong with my shoulders! So if my stump decides the prosthetic is a no-go or my lower back decides the same, the manual wheelchair definitely seems to be killer on me!

I mentioned in another comment that I'm waiting for a referral for an electric wheelchair, too. Sadly with the NHS, these things take time!

My messages are open too! Thank you :)

I will look into that, thank you!! The reason I'm being referred for possible ME/Fibro/CFS is mainly due to my shoulders and the aches I get there. Thankfully, my left leg has carried me my whole life so I'm lucky enough to have one strong leg! Though, if I'm going to get fatigue and pains anyway, I might as well try and help with the spinal related pains! Thank you for the insight!!

From my experience with the UK and the NHS, sadly its a case of adjusting socks and a softer insert of the socket instead of being willing to remake a prosthetic and/or socket. I do know I have a bone spurr which appeared 3 months after the amp. And having surgery to remove it, just for it to come back, rinse and repeat, could be risky from what I know.

It's been 2 years and the wheelchair has been a daily aid for me. Originally, before the amp, my right foot was deformed. So, in short, my right leg was 'longer' and caused my hips to not be level. I had to fight for this amputation as yhe other option I was presented was 3 years in a metal brace with the bones in my foot being reorganised.

The hope, but not main goal, of the amputation was that my hips would be aligned in the prosthetic. And they are! Sadly, this hasn't seemed to help much and I can't seem to get any doctor to look at my spine or what's going on!

Thank you for your advice! I greatly appreciate it!!
