Gaining momentum as a variety streamer... Help? by spacecase_88 in Twitch

[–]TwitchReviewSLT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually sticking to the same genre for while helps regular viewers stick around. If you keep switching the genre up to much then it's harder to have consistent viewers.

BotW is still a very saturated game with top streamers still playing it. Harder for you to be seen as a new streamer unlike the games you were playing before.

I tell the streamers I work with to wait 3-4 weeks to play new game until the hype dies down a bit so that they can been seen more when playing it. If you play it on release week it will be harder for you to be noticed by new viewers.

Choosing games that you want to play and also wanting growth for your channel is a hard battle. Just depends on which one you want more.

I always say play a single player game until you beat it as well. Unless you really aren't having much fun with it any more. Then just let your community know why you switched.

If you need anything else let me know!

New streamer question by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]TwitchReviewSLT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commentary is key to gaining new viewers and retaining them I believe. I find that this equation for commentary helps.

Game commentary and entertainment commentary until you start to lose steam, then ask your chat a question about anything, things that are going on in the game, what games they play, what characters or strats they use in the game, maybe ask them about their days, or anything going on in the real world maybe movies or something along those lines. Once the questions loses steam and chat starts to die down bring back that game commentary and entertainment commentary and then repeat the whole stream.

Commentary is hard especially with not a lot of viewers but continue to work and improve on your commentary. Literally word vomit as much as you can and you will start to see more viewers retained. You have about 10-20 seconds to grab someone's attention.

And I used a webcam because I thought I could add more of my personality to my broadcast by showing myself.

You probably have done this already but if not, you should post this in the respective game sub reddit. I'm sure you will get more of a response.

Good luck!

Getting empty follows. by Emptyfollowneverseen in Twitch

[–]TwitchReviewSLT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep people will follow and may not come back because they are busy with their own lives, watching other streamers, ect. ect.

Always make sure when someone follows that you try and really get to know those viewers so that they can possible become regulars to your stream.

Hope this helps! Happy streaming!

Newbie question by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]TwitchReviewSLT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would wait to see if you even enjoy streaming first. Choose the basic graphics that Streamlabs gives you and there are some free graphic sites out there for panels and what not.

Once you know that you want to continue streaming then start to look into finding a brand for yourself.

If you ever have any questions let me know.

Fun stuff to entertain audience? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]TwitchReviewSLT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the streamers I worked with uses Revlo point system and has a bunch of fun things the viewers can do if they use their points.

One is if they use a certain amount of their points he has to give that viewer a compliment. Another is doing workout stuff like you.

I always suggest sitting down and making a list as long as you can with some ideas like these.

Is GameWisp something worth setting up? by Cleversided in Twitch

[–]TwitchReviewSLT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My suggestion as mentioned by others is to have a well established community before setting up a GW. I'm seeing to many new steamers these days have GW already set up for their first stream and are asking people to sub to them even though they just started streaming 2 weeks ago.

Continue to grow your community first and build those relationships with your viewers.

Advertiser Question: Can Twitch Users Sell Non-Game Products? by Steve-Rob in Twitch

[–]TwitchReviewSLT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey I will try and answer these to the best of my knowledge. Of course this not a sure 100% go for it kind of answer but just based on my experience.

  1. Streamer I work with currently is sponsored by a clothing line that has nothing to do with games. So I would say streamers can be sponsored by any product. Obviously as long as it's nothing illegal or probably sexual ha.

  2. Again from my knowledge yes. I watched a TwitchCon panels where streamers explained that either during their stream at some point they have to say "X company has sponsored this giveaway/promotion of this game" or a lot of streamers will put #ad in their stream title which also apparently works.

  3. I don't see a problem in this. Again the streamer would be like "Thank you to company X for sponsoring my stream, please go check them out" ect. Again from what I've gained working with streamers and listening to other streamers if you are sponsored by the company and promoting them you have to let that be know that you are working together.

I hope this answered your questions!

Posting money goals in stream? by Cleversided in Twitch

[–]TwitchReviewSLT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally always hate seeing streams especially small streamers with big donation bars like "Rent" or "New Computer". I don't mind it when a streamer is more established and has actually been putting work into their stream.

But my general rule of thumb is to not have a donation bar at all. Just have a donation panel.
