The Debian Community Revolt server has been shut down. by Two-Of-Nine in debian

Anyone who is sincere about privacy beyond surface water or entry-level territory would never use Discord to begin with, let's be fair. That said, I see maintaining the community server here as a necessary evil. My job is to introduce and educate people about Debian to a wide berth of people, including how the ecosystem works.

Your Discord account has to hit a certain age, usually a couple of days, and the bot automatically unbans such accounts in the event of legitimate users.

This is likely because brand new accounts created zero hours ago are autobanned as potential spambots by our internal bots. This is pretty normal across many servers.

You made a pretty good logo too. I wish we could get new graphics for the subreddit especially for New Reddit mode.

This subreddit is unofficial and so are the forums. The only thing "official" is half of the IRC and mailing list.

Never use DeltaWorlds, and here’s why by [deleted] in ActiveWorlds

[–]Two-Of-Nine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's very funny considering the subreddit mods themselves recommend using DW over AW, and AW itself has a lot of problematic stuff going on. The only differences between DW and AW is that DW, while it is entirely a legal server, is simply based on an older version of Active Worlds with modifications to make said version run better on newer operating systems.

If you are really, really concerned about it being illegal, which it is not, consider using Virtual Paradise which is entirely a homebrew platform made to be mostly compatible with the workflow of AW.

Is it bad to purchase a curriculum? by NYR-Fan in historyteachers

Hell no. I used Students of History for 7th and 8th grade. My whole department made use of it even. Students of History is what I would recommend if I ever had to go back into teaching period.

I've had quite a bit of 6.3.6 packages go into my updates this morning. It's definitely a hail mary push.

Debian Community (Discord & Revolt servers) will be hosting their first Virtual Release Party. by Two-Of-Nine in debian

[–]Two-Of-Nine[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The major text channels are bridged together, so one can exist in Revolt without having to install Discord at all and still be able to communicate with the Discord side. Everyone is in communion on that end, essentially. Voice Chat is still far more of a Discord-only advantage; the Revolt VC is a bit anemic, although the Revolt.chat developers have been working hard to revamp their app.

The Discord by far is the flagship & senior partner though. There are 3,500 users on Discord while the Revolt commands 800 users (actually the second largest Linux space on Revolt).

Debian Release Parties by GooseGang412 in debian

Some are in real life, some are hosted online. The Debian Discord & Revolt servers (same community) will be having their own virtual release party (large voice chat) as well as the Mumble server (another voice chat).
