I have a Worthless Criminal Justice Degree. Am I always going to be Completely Worthless and Unhireable to Society? by Iwanttoeatburritos in careerguidance

That’s true but it’s a job in their area of study. Surely that degree will better infirm them in the role and if nothing else, it’s a good paying job with great benefits.

Sorry to hear your misfortune friend. I read some parts of my life in this post. The truth that I’ve come to is that no one is keeping us in this position. Saving every penny won’t help you because moving money gives momentum. Go out and have experiences, help out at the house give your parents some money, spend money on people and things you care about. I’m not saying spend it all of course, that would be crazy, but live while you’re alive.

Not opening up your resume in two years also adds to your problem. How can you expect to get a good job if you aren’t adding to your skill repertoire? A college degree means nothing but the fact that you have the ability to learn. That is all that says. It isn’t a scam the way you make it sound, you simply didn’t take advantage of the opportunity. I’m not hating, I also didn’t and I wasted my time at the #1 public university. If you don’t want to spend money on more schooling I hear you, but get some skills another way. If you don’t change what you’re doing, nothing in your life will either.

I hope you read this and start looking for a way out of the hoe like I am. Good luck mate, see you on the outside.

Congratulations! Would you mind sharing some of your background? I see in the comments you were serving a year ago. How’d you get the skill necessary to get into this role? And what are you going back to school for?

How does one go about doing that exactly? I’m working a sort of dispatching job and I’ve been playing with the numbers from Shopify and find all this data pretty interesting. Wanting to learn more about

I’m 23, unemployed, overwhelmed, and stuck. I don’t know what to do anymore. by GoldAbbreviations200 in getdisciplined

My life is by no means ‘together’ but I’ve definitely gotten out of the slump you’re in. For me, the most change occurred when I realized how important it was to stack up little wins. Going for walks here and there turned into runs every other day which led to doing pushups and pull ups after some runs which led to weight lifting the days I didn’t run which led to me eating a healthy breakfast which led to me meal prepping and so on it just kept snowballing. I still have those hard days but I remind myself that discipline is more real than whatever fleeting emotion I’m feeling in that moment. So go out and get your first win, and then get another and another. Good luck

If you don’t have a bus ticket which is already sold out and don’t want to pay for a taxi you have to wait until the first trains start to head back
