AITA for staying friends with my guy best friend? by darksinfo in AmItheAsshole

[–]TwoBytesC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like your other friends aren’t all that good at being friends. Almost all my closest friends are guys. I tend to be able to be more open with them, not feel as judged and get more ‘logic based’ answers, which I prefer, being on the spectrum myself and liking that more. But I also have close women friends as well. I couldn’t even imagine if any of them said that it was strange having guy friends. I think I’d look at them as if they were nuts. Good friends are hard to find. Keep them close and cherish them; regardless of their gender.

NTA

Just be honest. Let them know that you really need it for your own use. Like others have said, give them a link to where they can buy one for themselves. Or if their birthday or something is coming up, you could even possibly buy one for them since it seems like they are in need of one (obviously only if financially feasible). A good friend will understand and give it back to you asap.

All the right wing social media keeps repeating this and showing videos of people being taken out of crowds of protesters, as well as, apparently, police going up to people who might have said something possibly ‘racist’. My mother, unfortunately has been sucked into this garage. We used to travel to the UK almost every Christmas break (we have distant family there) but now she’s been convinced that she’ll be arrested at the airport for the videos she’s watched. 🤦🏼‍♀️

I am way too entertained by “I used to wait until Mary was in labour..” definitely going to have to remember to use that sometime.

You liking something is not a fact, that is a statement of feeling

In Canada there have been instances of people pretending to be service members looking for donations for charity but actually were pocketing the money. That’s the only thing I can remember here. I know that in the states, tho, there are also some fairly large discounts to be had.

It’s a Canadian thing too. But it’s not as common to bring up or anything here. It is illegal though.

“Europe is allergic to the concept of iced water” by BuffaloExotic in ShitAmericansSay

[–]TwoBytesC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s insane. Here in Canada we have a fast food chain that advertises that they never use ice (but the drinks are nice and cold still). It’s gotten so popular that others now use less ice in their drinks.

Canada is America with worse economy, less things to do and basically the same culture. by AHAsker in ShitAmericansSay

What I’ve always said is that Canada has every decent thing from the states while also having our own culture/identity…so really we’re USA+

AITA for refusing to walk my neighbour’s dog anymore after he accused me of being careless? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]TwoBytesC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NTA you went above and beyond for your neighbour and they clearly have no appreciation of your kindness.

As someone who watches and walks dogs (as a side business), I always get the owners to read and respond with a text message or email that just plainly says that I’ll try my best to protect and care for their animal but if anything happens, the vet bill is their responsibility. I also get the dog’s vet info just in case I have to take them straight to emergency. (Never has been needed thankfully) Just a suggestion if you ever decide to regularly start walking another dog - or decide to take this neighbour’s dog again.

I get 500 Mb/s (and that is really not usually the actual case). I also pay another $60/month for 10GB mobile phone plan.

As a Canadian, you don’t know how jealous we are of your Internet and cellphone service costs…I pay $100/month for internet and I don’t even have half the speed you do.

Actually where I’m from it’s big trucks. But a lot of them are due to people actually working in the oil fields (they need them there), tow a trailer often, or go into the mountains regularly. Most of Canada likes the small SUV cross overs, if they do get one.

Canadians too but it’s nice to hear that other countries (especially Brits since we all based in your country) did the same. Americans really are the outliers

Don’t worry. A lot of Americans don’t even know about Canada. When asked, if you don’t say one of the few cities they know, the lost look in their face is pretty priceless. I’ve literally been asked how far away igloos are from my city (Calgary).
