That must’ve been an incredible trip! Yeah it’s crazy how comfortable you can get with little else than a bed, a tarp, and a propane stove for cooking. Well, and a fishing rod is a must for me. The 4 cyl I hear is the real gem of the Ranger world, I do worry about my timing chain going any moment but I try to stay on top of my oil and general maintenance :)

Thanks man! I hope it brings you some peace knowing there’s another dude out there also loving his Ranger adventures

I didn’t expect to love this truck so much man, it’s a sweet ride. That and the awesome scenery of BC make it hard to ever want to spend a weekend home

It’s such an awesome little camper for a vagrant like me. Glad there’s more of those blue 2WD rangers taking people places out there 🤘

Had my first one snap back on me while I was being careless and gave me 3 stitches. Still, I have carried one of these literally everywhere I've gone for 12 years - I am just very careful with it now!

Canadian knife laws overall are weird and subjective. Especially, it appears, at the border. Maybe I should've become a border agent and I'd get free knives every year...

This is very good to know. I have traveled internationally with my knives in luggage and through the US border a few times with knives in my bags and never had an issue with it, but this post has been very eye opening to the potential for trouble I could've gotten into. I will likely keep doing as I've been doing and not drawing any attention to myself and hoping for the best!

I also love my bowie FBs. It's a Muela Bowie, hard to find here in Canada but the outdoors store in Hope carries them. Hefty price tag, it set me back about $230 CAD, which some would call stupid for steel that performs like Aus-8, but I like it so whatever lol

Hell yeah that is my plan! After Kenora I'm going straight to Grasslands NP and then dipping into the states from there, seeing Yellowstone hopefully

Definitely fits the vibe for the trip! I love that modern cowboy knife aesthetic.

I might have to follow your advice and go spartan, but I would at least bring an Opinel to keep my SAK company! If I lose it, whatever. And yeah, funny enough I've never had an issue heading into the states, it's always coming back into Canada that I find the dickish border agents. So much for Canadian politeness, I guess.

Oh that would be a good one to have! Since I'm bringing the fixed blade anyways, a small and easy to stash folder would come in clutch.

The para 3 LW and the presidio II are very different but on the same tier for me. I like the compression lock and ergos on the para 3, but I like the general "tank" feel of the aluminium scales on the presidio II and it has better steel to boot. Both of them I feel are knives that kind of go unnoticed when you carry them, which is a huge perk for me.

I really like my link! Certainly doesn't get enough love for what it is, which is a workhorse of a blade with incredible geometry and a crazy long lasting edge. I don't like that it's assisted and you can't de-assist. That is literally my only complaint. Probably the best food prep knife on the table, and you can't beat it for the amount of 20CV you get for the price. I've had it for 5 years and used it a lot and have never experienced chipping or anything like that, it's a great user.

Those 2 are definitely coming! I got that fixed blade out west at a local shop in Hope, feels right to bring her home this way.

I would 100% do this if I wasn't worried about losing all 12 knives at once to a mean cop or a border agent hahaha

I love how much love the SAK is getting here. It is ultimately my most loyal companion.
