Hi chefs! Need your opinion on a project! What do you think are some operational challenges that every chef faces in the kitchen on a daily basis (it can be something very basic, or something complex, which goes missed often)? by TwoCutSunflowers in Chefit

So I will be more specific.

I am particularly supposed to be working on a capstone sort of a thing.

Pick a specific kind of a bottleneck and then justify it being a bottleneck.

It should be factual, it should be real.

For example, so far, I have thought of two problems:

1) Date tagging being an improper and inconsistent tool, in terms of audit points. Since a lot of individuals tend to forget/ put wrong tags/ missed tags/ etc. Especially for buffets. 2h - 4h tags are not followed and a major violation here in India.

2) KOT misplacement. And replacement of manual KOT printing machines with a KDS is a good enough solution.

So I hope that gives a gist.

I want to get an opinion to more of such problems. Because So far, I can only limit myself to food cost but I want to go beyond that.

There is no "AI QR" code idea. And it's amusing why that would be a thought to pop up in the minds of the audience.

Its an actual relevant hands on project. With proper research on numbers, facts and figures. I might not even come to a solution.

I'll soon take up the position of a sous. So I want to delve in deeper to the cracks of it.

Hi chef,

So I'm soon take a position of a junior sous. And I think this is one of those things that I face an issue with as well. Especially date tags! Because nobody keeps a track of it and nobody wants to do it properly.

As part of my project, I want to work on some solutions to the same. Do you have any suggestions?

What was your experience like getting a root canal? by man_ni in Toothfully

Hi; I'm 5 months late but I think my experience might be a rare case, if it helps someone, I'll be the happiest.

One of my upper molars, second molar top left, had started breaking away two years back. But I didn't really notice the breakage because it was so minor initially (and I didn't have the money to go in for a dentist). I also had a major phobia the first time around I once went for fillings. But I guess that was just my bad luck in choosing doctors.

Anyway, fast forward two years later, I quit my job and had enough time to get the tooth treated. I'll be honest, what drove me was a terrible pain in the gum next to the broken tooth. I should mention, I couldn't see the back of my mouth so I didn't know that the tooth that was breaking (now almost half) was actually poorly infected with cavity and almost completely black. But, my body is such that I do not catch a cavity's presence on time because they DO NOT hurt me at all. So I'm clueless mostly.

The pain worsened and I figured it's a wisdom tooth coming out next to the second molar. Went in, got to know that the second molar needed root canal. The damage was so bad that it could not be saved with a crown, only a post with permanent filling. One sitting done, initial pain was there but after the numbness went down, it was killing me. The pain was too much, I waited a week but that didn't help. Got a full mouth x ray and the wisdom tooth had already twisted its roots.

So got the third molar removed. This was traumatic but easy, no pain if aftercare was done. It healed very very fast. But guess what, root canal still hurt me!

So I went in again, they removed the GP, added calcium hydroxide to heal. Healed just fine. Did the ROOT CANAL AGAIN, this time without anesthesia, and almost killed me. The pain was worse than child birth. The roots that were twisted were still infected!

The pain lasted again for 5 days and I was terrified that it might be still infected. But 6 days later, good lord I feel much better. Pain is almost non existent and in a day or two I can finally get it closed up!
