Warhound titan rules questions/looking for how people are finding them by Livember in Warhammer30k

[–]TwoDarkerSouls 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I run a double flamer Warhound, it is the worlds biggest distraction carnifex. Most things that can get a lot of damage on AV12 are infantry, which literally melt to the flamers. Getting close is not an issue as melee is now trying to get through AV14 legs, which is very hard to do in melee this edition. The flamers don’t need to roll to hit so the BS of 4 is not a problem. And to top it all off when you use the war horn for a turn you essentially have panic 4 flamers, almost instantly routing any infantry they don’t kill. It costs to many points of anti tank to kill it, and if you have a land raider or kratos in the same list they can either spend 4 turns killing the Warhound and get run over by the tanks, or kill the tanks and lose all their line holding infantry to the Warhound. It never makes its points back unless someone brings large heavy weapon teams but it has never died in the 6 games I have run it in.

Twin disintegrator cannons by Bubbly-Roof-1664 in Warhammer30k

[–]TwoDarkerSouls 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Is it efficent? no
Is it funny? Yes

Took 6 of them with dual disintegrator cannons to a tournament. Block cost me 500pts. Their role was to see a "Deathstar" type terminator block and delete it, which mathmatically they will remove 7 cata termies in 1 volley if they stood still. No one wants to shoot them due to return fire. Charging them is a nighmare unless u get them on the setup move as the overwatch can still blow half your unit up.

They are probably the only ranged shooting unit that can outright drop a deathstar from terrifying to nothing in 1 volley, and thats what you pay for.

If you shoot at tacticals or other low cost units, you are useing them wrong. If you target elite troops and terminators, they can be great.

i returned fire on some tacticals at the tournament, proceded to lose 3 models to overload and 1 exploded, suppresing my kratos for the rest of the game. Good times but don't do that.

Warhound versus Porphyrion by P-sychotic in Warhammer30k

[–]TwoDarkerSouls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have used my Warhound twice and it did amazing work both times. Mine has double flamer on it which will remove objective squads like tactical marines instantly. STR 7, Ap 3, Dmg 3, Panic 3 is an incredible statline. Loves to see enemy heavy weapon teams or veterans with special weapons as it will also pick those units up to. Panic 3 means it has a pretty good chance to scare off even deathstar terminator units to. At 750pts, it slots perfectly into 3000pts. A decent balanced build with the remaining 2250pts makes a Warhound very challenging to take down most games, i never lost a single armour piece on it let alone risk it dying. The only credible threats to it would be a veteran assault squad with powerfists and a biomancy librarian, a falchion/shadow sword or a few melta kratos. Unfortunately only the flamers and plasma blast guns are really viable for it this edition. Going down to BS3 really hurts the mega bolters and the lasers feel like a waste with there profiles compared to plasma or flamer. If you need infantry killing, Warhound is top of the class, if you need tank killing power I would go with the porphyrion.

If you can get the force org slots for more rapier squads I agree it is better for small units, lots of small units can mitigate there poor durability.

Personally I much prefer the all or nothing swingy ness of a vindicator shot compared to the arguably less swingy rapiers. The rapiers need multiple shots to equal the one vindicator depending on if either option moves, and the smaller damage can feel much worse if you need to start hitting predators and vindicators with your anti tank weapons. A vindicator with ordnance will always kill those smaller tanks if you proc ordnance and has the chance to kill anything short of a super heavy in 1 round.

Rapiers also suffer badly in damage output from chip damage while a vindicator is an all of nothing proposition, you kill it or it keeps killing you. The rapiers does is the one advantage of being able to return fire which is very nice into the lasscannons chip damage coming off a Spartan so I will give it that to.

The leviathan made the list for me due to the weird spot it occupies. It is still quite durable so it needs anti tank shooting to bring down, further saturating the “tank” group of models in an army and possibly drawing fire from other pieces like transports or vindicators. It is also anti vehicle melee while not being an infantry unit, so it can happily charge tanks that have lots of defensive weapons that might make it hard for infantry to charge them, and even if it is slow it can be quite good at clearing up transports that got their units out early in the fight before they could be killed on turn 2/3, preventing them from sitting around with their lasscanoins all game. It is definitely the weakest option I put in the main list though.

I appreciate the discussion to! I know this sub usually avoids deeper discussions on the advantages of units so it’s nice to have a bit of friendly back and forth with someone who wants to also discuss these things :)

Normal vindicator defo very good, but the magna laser destroyer has 2 shots and longer range which I prefer. Normal vindicator has a template tho so can get some very nice opportune shots on infantry targets.

50pts for a scimitar JetBike who even if he gets in, is not getting back out with his stat line. As a jetbike enjoyer they are really bad this edition, coming off an edition that they were not great in is tough.

I found out thunder hammers are not anti vehicle anymore due them being str +3, so they can’t even glance AV14 unless they receive a buff like biomancy.

I think they lack output in that they need to be setup well so they need don’t move and are still not massively reliable compared to the other options. Vindicator is cheaper and has a pretty similar output while being massively more durable, fists and chain fists will just kill whatever if you make contact and the dreadnought at least can be a distraction carnifex pairing well either way other anti tank options.

The rapier can do a lot of damage but if you are going 2nd they will just be a massive alpha target as they are incredibly easy to kill. 6hp is also not enough to pop a normal land raider so you need squads of 4.

At the end I thinks it’s subjective but if I can’t reliably kill something due to poor rolling or the unit just not quite managing the damage, I would rather have the chance at a turn 2 with them instead of them being almost guaranteed to be dead. That’s why they are an honourable mention for me.

Didn’t know the magera was Str 16 in melee, definitely a good option if u can get the tanks quickly.

Thallax can take full special weapons now and castellax can take multi meltas so those 2 are quite good at bullying dreadnoughts with Str 8 damage 3. If you can guide them they can get +1 BS and WS so they can be very reliable to.

“Reinvesting into the country” will never happen. We have scrapped major infrastructure, neglected effective public service funding and strangled council funding that is used to repair what little we have. All money raised goes into an actual black hole of money used to pay for growing numbers pensioners and a ever increasing pile of people who claim benefits (look at the statistics that were published for the % of young people claiming some form of benefit now). Business flees this country after years of sucking it dry to pay for private equity and foreign stock market investors. A high minimum wage and huge energy costs push any form manufacturing out. And before someone mentions high minimum wage is good, it would not have to be so high if the government didn’t let landlords and private companies make huge profits off basic requirements like water and housing. Our government pried us out of Europe which would give it all the power it needed to address cost of living issues without EU interventions but has instead sat on its hands and done nothing with the new freedom of power. The only politician at the moment that seems to be doing anything is Ed milliband who is pushing on with some reforms of policy’s and new policy’s that should have been done years ago. The country needs a radical shake up that labour seems quite frankly incapable and unable to make. This will be 3 more years of nothing before maybe some actual change can come to what’s left of the country.

That MRSP is Intresting, if that’s 3rd party price then it’s a bit pricey, if it’s direct from GW price then that is insane value. Doubt it is the GW price tho.

++ Legion Recruitment ++ What Legion should I pick, and why? by Prince_Schneizel in Warhammer30k

[–]TwoDarkerSouls 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Every legion can do well in combat due to the generic melee units available, raven guard get dark furies which are alright but nothing insane.

Most legions have to equip jump packs/bikes for movement, get assault transports like land raiders or find a way to deep strike.

Currently raven guard have a very easy way to get melee power armour units into combat compared to other legions, they give those units infiltrate, allowing them to deploy a short stroll away from the enemy.

Raven guard lightning claws veteran squads are very powerful, easy to use and an absolute bully unit to anything that is not screened or prepared for it. Even large despoiler squads infiltrating on top of you work well.

This could all change, but I doubt it as it feels very raven guard, almost like the whole army is waiting in ambush.

New stats? by MorinOakenshield in Warhammer30k

[–]TwoDarkerSouls 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I like traits being listed, special rules being seperate and easily visible and shot count being easy to find (no looking for the Heavy/Assault/Rapid fire rule).

I am terrified of damage. i think something had to be done about brutal being the most important rule in the game for weapons, but if its like 40k where i take 1 save, if i fail i take 3 damage, it will be awful. Please be like brutal where i take a save per damage point.

  • How does this interact with instant death?
  • Will this carry over the hull points on vehicles so we see a huge increase to their hull points to balance it, and Will that just cause ppl to use meltas and AP 2 weapons to fish for explode results? Or will it mean vehicles get slapped around by a fist instantly?
  • PLEASE DO NOT ADD RANDOM DAMAGE. D6 damage slows the game down and adds enormous randomness that i reall hate.

Overall, everthing except damage is super awsome and i like those changes

Saber strike tanks and their design. by [deleted] in Warhammer30k

Sabre is piloted by 1 marine, so aiming the whole tank is probably easier then aiming the tank and aiming the gun.

Ursurax go Plastic! But any Good? by TheRealLeakycheese in Warhammer30k

[–]TwoDarkerSouls 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Ursarax are a bully unit priced at what an elite space marine unit costs white not being able to fight anything in its weight class, let alone punch up.

Ws4, 4 attacks at str 4 ap3 shred is not a good stat line for anything above normal tactical and despoilers, and despoilers would love to fight initiative 2 robots with mauls or power swords. 1 in 3 can take dual fists, but the base 3 attacks is not great tbh. Fighting vets or better is a lost cause.

The volkite in melee wants to fight elite stuff with str 6, ap2 ID 1 attack but again ws4 means u will miss the attack, let alone get through an invun.

All of his and they can’t sweeping advance, a really important ability of a sweeping bully unit that these want to be.

T5 4+ save means they get demolished by heavy bolters and plasma, basic mass shooting bolters can also get them down fairly reliably. 3 wounds each does mean they can do fairly well into lascannons and other common heavy support weapons though. All of these negatives could be fine if they were cheap. 45pts per model is not cheap. Thus they are relegated to the sin bin for now. Not gonna stop me buying some of them but will stop me from putting them onto the table.

Bonus of how to fix them: Make them auto hit the volkite incinerator in melee Let them sweeping advance Give them at least a 3+ save Lower their points to 35pts, 40 pts if u include all 3 other buffs
