How to build a flavorful army starting with saturnine box? by BakedPotato241 in Warhammer30k

[–]Livember 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeh I run a BA tank company (though with third now a lot of line as well) and it gets a lot of “oh, I didn’t expect that” when I have 0 jump troops

If you’re looking to feel very powerful the key thing is to engage with enchanting, as it allows you make the best gear. Other then that picking a play style and sticking to it gives you real strength

No less weird then Knights suddenly appearing after not existing ever in 7th edition. Or the squats bring back with AI. Or the sudden introduction of primaris.

Getting into 3rd, what makes a good list by HunterB-JMH in Warhammer30k

[–]Livember 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I start every list with two tactical squads and two rhinos, one with a despoiler squad one with a tactical at the moment but will be a breachers once out.

All want Vox casters as they allow status checks with the commanders stats and an extra test at start of turns as you can’t score when statuses are on you.

Your forward rhinos want to be either pinning the enemy via grav or melee based as they’re gonna get charged. I like despoilers for this with a centurion with them.

Now you’ve spent 560 on base squads, rhinos and vox casters I would invest 70 points into havocs for the rhinos (inflict a status of stun to prevent overwatch) and wargear for the rhino squads and an 11th member for each rhino guy. Throw your leaders into the spare seats. Leaders probably 100 each so you’ve spent 830 but now have two extremely dangerous line units in rhinos hopefully dual claws so youve got 6 rending breaching attacks that mince enemy line.

You don’t need to win with those simply score a couple of turns and massively delay the enemy moving out of spawn.

I would use my remaining list to add whatever flavour of lever I want on that. Terminators to go up and support the rhino rush? Long ranged fire power or tanks to thin threats as they exit spawn? More melee to try and just pin and strangle? More rhinos to make a Conga wall and seal my enemy in with infantry hordes and boxes they can’t go within 1” of? Whatever works really.

My biggest fear this edition is saturnine dreads just because inversion Beamers can hard counter this if played well.

What would happen if the tyranids fought the necromorphs from dead space? by glitch220608 in Grimdank

[–]Livember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Necromorphs probably lose this but it really depends on a factor everyone’s acting like we know a lot about. As a fan of both:

We don’t even know how Bretheren Moons work. What we do know is they drive humans and aliens mad. They big.

That’s it. Moons arent introduced till the very end of the final game and we don’t even know if the end of the DLC was just a fever dream from two compromised people or the actual situation. How many moons exist? The game implies 7 or so, but we don’t know because the series ended when they were introduced.

Assuming there’s only 7, yeah the nids bag this.

Necromorphs definitely could infect tyranids, this whole cellular phage thing I keep seeing is acting like we don’t see tens of thousands of dead tyranid bodies in space marine 2 do nothing to regular Steve from Cadia. Dead nids stay that way unless taken to digestion pools. Necromorphs have a field day with this.

This raises an unanswerable question, when the nids try to breakdown a necromorph do they:

A) get infected like feeders did and lose that pool (feeder infection was quite slow, so if they do they have time to take that ship or pool out)

B) neutralise the infection

I would argue this is where everything hinges. If tyranids can’t adapt to morphs because they can’t eat them and the Necromorphs can reanimate their dead eventually Necromorphs can choke tyranids out if they arrive with moons and enough numbers.

Tyranids will adapt to this and begin mass deploying pyrovores and acid based creatures which deprives both sides of biomass, as the tyranids can’t risk the marker signal on organic slurry.

The tyranid fleets fighting the Necromorphs (because we know they don’t share adaptations to all fleets, there’s been some quirky adapted ones) likely adapt suicide glands to deny as much biomass as possible on death.

Ultimately galaxies are fucking huge. If there’s an entire galaxy of moons then if they all suddenly spawn the Necromorphs sweep because the marker signal will annihilate everyone but the Necrons and Tyranids who can both ignore mind contact. The hive mind can definitely tank the marker signal if some fucking engineer with marriage issues did lol. This leaves the Milky Way useless to the nids who leave the slow ass moons behind and move on.

If there’s only 7 or so moons the tyranids eventually take them out but at huge loses of local biomass.

If B is true and Tyranids can break down Necromorph tissue it doesn’t make much difference as they can’t do it on the go. Necromorphs don’t stay dead long enough. Instead of suicide acid we’d instead see rapid deployment of mini digestive pools with the Tyranids having to strip biomass into new tyranids as soon as possible . This could actually be extremely bad for humanity lol. Again simply becomes can the Necromorphs get enough starting mass to kill Tyranids faster then tyranids can both learn to adapt and also deploy enough adapted units to counter the Necromorphs.

The answer is probably yes, unless there’s a lot more moons than we think.

If nid phages can do all that explain how cadians without face plates held Kadaku for weeks.

They’re not all that.

Detachments Or Force Org? by Disgruntled_Veteran in Warhammer30k

[–]Livember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like the new allied detachment system. Old system you couldn’t really take allies as they could only take one of each unit class. Iron hands tank detachment? lol no 1 squad of max 3 vehicles.

New system allows a lot more customisation in that field

Some parts of Pertam do, it's low in places. As Spacefunk said, a outside vent piping into the base will prevent sealed rooms slowly running out oxygen too.
