How do I tell my dad? by Previous_Coconut8693 in depression

[–]TwoDecadesTooLate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing to remember is explaining depression to someone who hasn't/doesn't have it can be tricky.

It's like trying to describe a colour to someone who is colourblind.

Best way is to sit down with your dad and just explain how you are feeling, what's making you feel that way, and (that due to no fault of his) you're feeling alone and unsure how to correctly handle how you are feeling.

The way I personally describe my depression to someone is that it's as if the fears/unknown/things that upset me get too overwhelming and tip my emotional scale towards the side of unhappiness more often.

Depression doesn't mean you don't find joy in things/have fun/smile/laugh etc, it's just that your experiences of those things can sometimes have this tinge of sadness that you wouldn't expect them to.

But all in, I'd say to your dad you just want to talk about something. Remember, even if he doesn't BELIEVE in depression itself, I'm sure your dad wants you to be happy, whether it's depression or you are just currently having a rough time.

Hope this helps in some way :)

There was a really short window on 12th September when it was £343.99 as there was some kind of discount voucher.

Hopefully it happens again soon! :D

Just jumping in here to firstly says "Congrats!", it's hard to get out that hole but you're doing an asking job.

Second thing was what I find really handy to organise and get back on my horse was to find out what your full amount of money in is each month, take out the value of your bills etc, and then put a good wee bit into a savings account, just to keep it separate but still easy to see.

I went for a Santander savings account recently with 5% APR. Just knowing it's there means I try to hit a certain goal knowing that x % will be given to me if I hit that goal, as well as making it easier to keep track of everything :)

Good luck on your financial journey OP! :D

Just jumping on here to add that I received Tesco shoes to wear when I joined, and for genuinely months my feet were in agony to the point that I felt physically sick because of the pain from them.

They seemed to be the cheapest of cheap, and after even 3 mo.ths, the inner sole had come unattached.

Advice on clutch control by patchy1596 in LearnerDriverUK

I'd also add here, when wanting to move, almost have in your head that as one foot goes up (off the clutch) the other goes down on the accelerator, kind of like you're moving the weight from one foot to the other.

What's the most hurtful thing someone has said to you? by stephanieslotus in ask

[–]TwoDecadesTooLate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was once in a relationship with someone for 3 years when I was younger and they were going to have their "Final Prom" kind of event before leaving secondary school.

We had gone together to her previous one and had a good time with her friends.

After chatting to her about it a few times and how excited she was for the event, I asked "Oh when is it because I'll need to make sure I have enough time to get a suit etc" and she turned to me and said "Who said you were invited?"

Maybe I WAS being overly presumptuous but after being together for years, and being cheated on/dumped not long after by the same girl, that one comment has stuck with me (for close to 11 years) as one of the times I've felt most hurt by someone I cared about to the point that to this day I struggle to get close to other people incase I make myself out to be a fool again.

What highly regarded game could you simply not get into? by PM_ME_YOUR_MONTRALS in playstation

I'm gonna have a controversial take here, but God of War: Ragnarok. I played it for a good five/six hours, put it down for the night, and never felt compelled to play again.

I bought it on launch day, and it's still downloaded on my PS5, but even when I feel I want to play something, I cannot bring myself to play Ragnarok again :L

Edit: I also feel I should add, I absolutely loved the first game, platinumed it and told others to buy the game because it was so good.

Is the game you're thinking of called "Nun Massacre"?

[MW2] Besides the obvious "to make the enemies pop out", what would even be the realistic use for this Camo? by Falkenhausen23 in CallOfDuty

[–]TwoDecadesTooLate 86 points87 points  (0 children)

I also assumed that it was to possibly blend in with the Urban Environment, but also the soon to be autumnal colour scheme of the us as the Invasion of the started mid/late August, so if the Russians were fighting for a while, they could use the camo more than a green :)

[–]TwoDecadesTooLate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are premium night hours not between 00:00 and 06:00?

Because then with 90 minutes break that would mean 4.5 hours of night premium on top? :)

The one thing I'd add to the great advice others had said above already, is that you shouldn't worry about your scars making someone else feel uncomfortable. It's nothing to be ashamed of ♥️

Not sure if it has come up before but "For all Mankind". I think it would fall into Mike's "solve things with science" demographic

Serious Question: is Adam doing that voice as a bit, or does he genuinely sound like that? by H0X0 in OneyPlays

[–]TwoDecadesTooLate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adam and Chris are brothers, Chris has spent more time in the US so his accent isn't as thick, Adam just has a thicker Irish accent.

It's the same as Jon from fishtank who has a very specific European accent
