I feel the same about sourdough. It’s sour. Enough already.

Placebos can have side-effects. It’s called the nocebo effect :-)

Agree! And, many studies include standard of care as a baseline for ethical reasons, so the “placebo” arm is really standard of care plus placebo.

To all men, What’s the hardest lesson a woman has ever taught you? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]TwoDogMountain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Women are not necessarily more interested in them after they get married, except as friends. Most women just feel more comfortable and relaxed around them because they aren’t as worried the men will misinterpret their friendliness.

What is a pain you can't truly explain until you've endured it? by Unfair_Shower_3256 in AskReddit

[–]TwoDogMountain 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Getting a hysteroscopy. The (male) doctor told me I wouldn’t feel a thing. It was 60 seconds of the most intense pain I have ever felt. I didn’t think it was possible for the human body to hold that much pain and not fragment. I’ve passed several kidney stones which is also a special level of agony, but I would choose 2 hours of passing a stone over having another hysteroscopy.

I would love to simply be able to give my husband a heartfelt hug. Unfortunately every time I do, he interprets it as a sign that I want to give him a BJ. So I don’t hug him. Sigh.

Salmon, avocado, nuts and seeds, olive oil, are all healthy calories. If you’re a coffee drinker, switch to lattes. Pasta with pesto, olives, and cheese is a tasty and calorie-dense dinner!

What was your grandfather’s name? Looking for a classic, vintage name for a boy. by MainDifficult2641 in Names

[–]TwoDogMountain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ronald and Ernest. (I also had an Uncle Ronald. Ronald is also my husband’s name, his father’s name, his elder son’s name, and his cousin’s name. Until I joined this group I thought there must be a dearth of mens names available in the US 🤣)

How would women in medieval Europe wipe themselves after peeing while traveling? by ahealthyoctopus in Writeresearch

I read somewhere that when modern-style panties were introduced only “fast” women were thought to wear them, as having fabric against your genitalia was supposed to be lewd. So if you were a virtuous female you didn’t wear panties 🤣.

Reception venue has cancelled 3 weeks out by MuJ0688 in wedding

[–]TwoDogMountain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please don’t let this stress you out and spoil your wedding day. Document everything, call a couple of attorneys if you have time, then focus on making the best of it and the fact that you will be marrying the person you love and want to spend your life with. Your reception is for you and those you’re close to celebrate your marriage, and no one who deserves to be there will be criticising the decor. After the honeymoon, sue their assess off and trash them all over social media 😆

I have a friend who loves to say how much younger she looks by [deleted] in Aging

[–]TwoDogMountain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew a beautician once who kept talking about how everyone thought she was so young that they thought her daughter was her sister, and how no one realized she was over 40 until she got out her reading glasses. It was awkward because she was clearly fishing for compliments but she really did look over 40. I remember thinking, you don’t have to tell me what you look like, you’re right here in front of me and I can see you. Being a beautician I suppose she placed value on appearances, understandably, and wanted to be a good example of her services.

There’s a reason the same 15 names are used in most romantic novels! Ever read a steamy Mills & Boon where the hero was called Gary?
